1987 535is B35 Blk on Blk SOLD

Post by dam5h »

Sold, $4k, 12/1/15

I have replaced my daily e28 with an e90 and have no need for 2 cars at this point in my life. One day I will be back when i have off street parking and a garage.

I bought the car about 2 years ago from Rich in Tupelo and before that it had at least 2 other owners from this board. I probably have less than 4k miles on it, I had 2 e28s until April of this year and live about 2 miles from work.

Here are some highlights, although I am likely forgetting things:
The car has a b35 swap (although still on b34 Motronic and b34 exhaust)
Eibach springs
Turbo boge shocks
Desirable G265 transmission (was swapped in, car originally an auto)--shifts great
UUC Clutch
Programma SI board cluster.
Front 750 brakes (<4k miles)
Fresh brake lines
Mtech steering wheel
Ultrasonicly cleaned injectors
Recent bosal exhaust (<4k miles),
Recent Alternator (<4k miles)

Things I've done recently
Upgraded in-tank fuel pump to aeromotive high pressure unit(deleted in-line when it failed)
e30 sport seats (leather has some cracks but not tears)
Fresh Conti DWS tires (under <3k miles)
Style 29 16 inch wheels
Fresh oil pan gasket
New clutch slave cylinder
New south african radiator
New thermostat

Just done:
New left tie rod and idler arm
New alignment

Issues:
Paint has had respray which is starting to degrade, see pictures. The cracks shown are about nickel sized in diameter
Sunroof seals need replacing, I have new ones that will go with car.
A/C low on R12 but have 2 cans that the previous seller provided.
Windshield has significant crack that would not pass inspection (not sure where I am in queue with Seatime on his windshield deal).
Warped rear rotors, giving slight pulsing feeling in seat when braking.
Upper control arm bushings may be starting to go, get slight half-second shimmy when braking hard from around 45mph, though shop could not feel wear from inspection on lift
Interior dome lights not functional, regardless of switch setting (haven't investigated), I have the retro fit auto dimmming timer kit which sells on this board, which will go with car.
Front passenger side fog light dropped off recently, turns out a previous owner had epoxied the mounting points onto the spoiler--this will go with the car.

Car will also come with some extra e28 parts that will all fit in trunk: extra power steering pump, b35 starter, extra taillights (bought on this board--haven't opened box yet but I think they have a DIY shadowline paint job on them), big brake light bulb kit, extra b34 ECU, extra motronic 1.3 ECU, lama interior pieces if wanted (door cards, center console, glovebox)

Also including full BimmerGuy plug and play motronic upgrade kit, which includes everything needed to go from b34 to b35 motronic. I originally bought this for my other e28 but never installed it, only opened box to inspect but it's all still in box. Much of what comes in kit is already on the engine in the car as it came to me (plug wires, balancer and sensor) since its a b35 already. So this is more than you actually need, I believe I have 2 1.3 ECUs as well, since one came in kit and I believe Rich provided one as well (along with a TPS sensor).

I want this car. I've been looking for my next project car and this is what I've been searching for. However, my wife just informed me that my recently completed project car (now a gorgeous 1985.5 Porsche 944) has to go first, so though I wish you luck with this sale I will be secretly praying that you don't sell it before I can get mine sold. Wish you the best of luck and I hope it turns out to both of our benefits.

Please post the 944 for sale here first. I have many interesting parties, and also some non-interested parties. Either way, . . . It's a party!

I will do it in the next day or so. I just need to get it detailed up for pictures. Thank you for the suggestion.

Allow me to add that despite the mileage, this was the most utterly solid, clean, and rust-free E28 I've owned. Not a speck of rusr was on it when I sold it back in 2006-ish. Life long California car. Drive it from San Diego to New Orleans and was amazed. And yes, the paint job was shit. I can't believe it's held on this long! There was a receipt in the glove box from "One Day Paint & Body" when I got it.

What happened to the front sport seats? They were beautiful when I owned it.

Thanks Kyle, yes the car is still very solid and rust free. I think Rich got rid of the sport seats as it had black comfort seats when I took ownership.

Ahhh, this is true. They really aren't made for large frames. Pity, they were really nice.

car is very solid. Yep, I like the comfort seats for daily driving. I'd still have it if I'd not have the opportunity to pick up the 533i I have now. Car never left me stranded.

Manual E28 comfort seats are some of the best seats I've ever put my butt in. The power ones seem to droop in the front for some reason, but otherwise they're just as good.
