Hello all
I am selling my 1988 BMW 528e
The car was sold to the Previous owner by Shade Tree Garage in 2001 and was maintained thoroughly by Shade Tree for 15 years. I have a folder full of receipts dating back to 2000, over $10,000 in preventative maintenance and repairs.
I purchased the car in 2015 and have spent countless hours bringing it back to current condition. Although car was maintained mechanically, it was ignored aesthetically and I have made a number of repairs and replaced many interior parts.
I stripped the entire interior of the car and cleaned it from ground up.
There is Zero rust under the car or on any body panel
The car has new spark plugs, intake hoses and a new Valve cover gasket. Timing was set 3 months ago (have receipt).
It starts up on one try to has not given me a single issue. Its a pure joy to drive.
We are looking for a family SUV and my "toy" must be sacrificed. That is the only reason for the sale.
If I could, I would keep this car for another 10 years and it will run without any issues
Ice cold A/C, even when indicated outside temperature was 107
Everything including Heat, defroster, electronics, power windows, power sunroof, power seats ...everything still works like it did on day one.. Amazing example of German engineering.
Headliner is ALL original and is NOT sagging, unlike many cars its age
Windshield is All original.
This is not a $8000-$12,000 restoration example. Its a daily driver, shows its age in very classic ways and could also be a starting point for a full restoration.
Car comes with a set of Stock 14" bottle caps wheels as well as the current E39 wheels on the car.
- Car could use a fresh coat of paint (if you want a show car)
- ABS light is on, ABS works, light is due to a sensor. ABS module works
- Passenger side rear light is cracked
- rear window (driver side) does not work
****Car comes with a folder of receipts totaling over $10,000 spent in last 15 years. No expense was spared in maintaining this car. Time belt, coils, spark plugs, cat back exhaust all Items were replaced within the last 10,000 miles
Price is slightly negotiable but no Low ballers please. This car continues to appreciate and there are No examples similar to this one in 500 mile radius
Asking $3599.00 OBO Price is slightly Negotiable
Looking to sell this quick so I can start shopping for a family SUV - Car is also listed on CL with a slightly higher asking price.. this price is for forum members
you can PM me or just call/text 919-259-2-1-four-four or email kam1996-at-gmail.com
Please note that I am not a used car salesman or dealer. cat is pictures as it sits in my driveway, no special clean up was done for the sale AD and please excuse me if the pictures aren't professional quality

Re: 1988 BMW 528E,Shade Tree Garage Raleigh Maintained for 1
We ordered an SUV last month and were told yesterday that it will be here in 3 weeks.
I am lowering the price on the car
Need this sold , there will literally not be enough room in the drive way once the SUV arrives
New price $2990.00

IMO the super ETA is the best . This is a beautiful example of one and I would think it would be leaving your driveway quickly. Especially with no rust and a 5 speed.
Posting a couple pics of engine bay is always a good idea around here as is posting the VIN.
GLWS
Put that loose rear seatbelt where it belongs

Re: 1988 BMW 528E, 15 yrs of documented history, $2995
My favorite color combo in the E28 universe: Cirrusblau and tan. In a perfect world the door cards and other interior bits would've been swapped along with the seats, but we don't live in a perfect world and this car is just a real beauty.
I was a devote stick shift driver for years, but unfortunately bad arthritis makes a slush box a requirement for me these days. If this was an A/T....
Great job reviving what looks like a wonderful car, and GLWS!

Do you have pictures of the trunk, rocker panels, floor boards, and around the rear subframe?

Tell me about it
I feel my car is under priced by $1500..
I haven't been actively selling it as I have been very busy at work and with the holidays
If it doesnt sell in the next couple of weeks, I will pull the AD and sell it in spring for what its really worth.
