Non-Affiliated thread for NOVEMBER 2018
Non-Affiliated thread for NOVEMBER 2018
I'll start out this month's non-affiliated thread with a 85 524td 5-speed project car that's in the middle of nowhere (Roswell NM). If it's an original NM car, you know it's rust free.

Re: Non-Affiliated thread for NOVEMBER 2018
Found this Zinno 535is in the Los Angeles Area. If I had a 10k budget, I would definitely buy it. All the cons seems to be minor and easily fixable. Like window motors.
Proper Euro Conversion and Zinno?!?!? Yes please.
I would just junk the ESM wheels. Put some stocks or RS's.
Seems like a relatively good buy.

I was just looking at that! I really dig the houndstooth interior.

Great Car +1 on the houndstooth. As to the rims I always wanted a set of Hockenheims for my E28 back in the day 20 years ago. Today however I think they look better on the E30. Some good zombie discussion on that point. http://www.mye28.com/viewtopic.php?t=31591

I had Hock Rs in 16x7.5 on my 528e in 1999. They looked good.SeattleGuy wrote:Great Car +1 on the houndstooth. As to the rims I always wanted a set of Hockenheims for my E28 back in the day 20 years ago. Today however I think they look better on the E30. Some good zombie discussion on that point.

^^^^ That NJ 535is looks like a car that you'd find on a dealer's used car lot ...... in 1990. Engine bay is less than tidy, but everything else looks like a time capsule. Wish I had some space.
Re: Non-Affiliated thread for NOVEMBER 2018
What a shame about all that cosmoline! Such a great color combo.

interesting e34..would prefer the wheels in stock color..but find myself not hating them in white as much as i expected...price seems steeeep for a chinless car.

It’s a scam. The person has attempted to get my real email address
Re: Non-Affiliated thread for NOVEMBER 2018
I vaguely remember this car. Guy in Little Rock had it if I recall correctly and had an M102 he was planning to swap in. He dropped off the map several years ago.T_C_D wrote:^^^^^^ Looks like Ljet distributor but has integrated bypass from Motrinic 745i?

Re: Non-Affiliated thread for NOVEMBER 2018
Yes I've been watching this car pretty closely since it opened on BAT just to see what the bidding looks like. I think it will be a good look at what the market is for "less than pristine" e28s. Has a little rust and some short cut odditiies in the trim. The US 535is airdam screwed to the valnace under the euro bumpers, the random trim/door guards 3/4 of the way up the doors.....all make the car less than perfect but still a sharp looking and seemingly mechanically sound e28. I want to see what this one goes for.redearedslider5 wrote:https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1987-bmw-535is-17/
Re: Non-Affiliated thread for NOVEMBER 2018
I’m shocked that BaT listed that car with a reserve.

The Turbo car has to be a scam.... or SOMETHING is off. Who sells that for $5K.... something is off there or I'd go buy it and sell mine, much as I love it.Smileyboy wrote:Greg E34 wrote: https://jonesboro.craigslist.org/cto/d/ ... 22792.html

The cosmoline on that 26K car.... unfortunate. I have it like that on mine and I've determined it will continue to be there for quite some time, yessir. But man oh man yes that could well be the lowest-mileage is out there. Takes me back 20 years to my first is that had 65K on her with the knock-off Borbets just like those pictured, and same exact color scheme.
The BaT car, hmmm... that will be fun to watch.

Does BaT have market down or what? None of these are foreign to us and I appreciate the honesty, but talk about minimizing flaws: "slight vibration at speeds above 60mph", "cracks atop the dashboard" and "minor seeps of engine oil and power steering fluid, as well as some idle fluctuation when cold". Will have to get them to prepare my obituary.

Re: Non-Affiliated thread for NOVEMBER 2018
Just from what is shown in the pictures, let alone what is likely under the extremely questionable visible repair work, this was/is a rusty car. Just my 2 cents, $6k was an extremely generous bid.russellrh72 wrote:Yes I've been watching this car pretty closely since it opened on BAT just to see what the bidding looks like. Oh, and the seller mentioned within a few hours of the end of the auction that the car wont stay running at idle in cold weather... good to know!

People have lost their minds over that e28 is worth $50k video.

All you really need to know is in the picture but I also like to finish the sentence:
"The seller notes a slight front-end vibration at speeds above 60 mph..... and a horrendous shimmy under braking."

Re: Non-Affiliated thread for NOVEMBER 2018
hmm..wondering how much of these claims can be substantiated. In the last night time photo I linked (when zoomed) it looks like more than light reflection...it looks like the front passenger fender has a major push dent...still an interesting prospect but not sure on the $...also wondering if it comes with an interior?

Yep, that’s a dent in the fender and the whole story is bullshit. Except the part about the kit being rare and hard to find.
