Vince, I've learned my lesson from previous encounters with "The Cupcake".vinceg101 wrote:(Pssst...Karl: Don't tick off the Cupcake; otherwise he'll have you down on your knees with a toothbrush to your wheel wells. I'm not kidding, he will hide your beer.)OcCoupe wrote:

I had been planning on going to Cupcake's and Kohler's place in PacGrove on Thursday for a detailing party but based on my house for Clean Car in May, it's probably not a good idea. Mike doesn't allow any talking during detailing time unless it's DIRECTLY related to technique or 'product' (product is what us mortals call wax and polish type stuff).AT8M5 wrote:Vince, I've learned my lesson from previous encounters with "The Cupcake".vinceg101 wrote:(Pssst...Karl: Don't tick off the Cupcake; otherwise he'll have you down on your knees with a toothbrush to your wheel wells. It turns out that the best way to remove old exhaust tips is a Dremel.
The Greeks knew it. The Carthaginians knew it. Now you know it.
Exhaust all tarted up with new paint and tips.
These are NOS Eureaux lights with the reflector in the fog housing.
And on the car.
My prediction is that I'm on the 405 North and Britney looks up from her phone, is blinded by my special brake lights and then rear-ends me.
Goodbye Hula Girl, HELLOOO Jesus!
Actually Kenny at Angels is the best way to remove the old exhaust tips. I pulled up, he got out the saw and I left. A smile and a nice gesture and we were on our way! Oh and he has this cool hydraulic thingy that makes the new exhaust tip just a wee bit wider so the new tip goes on nicely.Karl Grau wrote:Well I think so.OcCoupe wrote:Are we ready to go?

Sounds like you got a lot done in 2 days, way to go!!! Now maybe you can head over to Darwood's house and give him some advise on how to mix the purrfect martini.
I'm ready and looking forward to it. Hoping to hit several events, immerse myself in automotive eye candy, and hope to meet up with some of y'all along the way. All of your car prep updates make me feel a little guilty as I am cheating by flying in and won't be bringing a car - totally playing spectator.
Maybe I can help by carrying the concours trophy hardware to the cars for you guys??

To my SoCal brothers, if you need a pit stop for repairs, caffeine, beer or last minute detailing please feel free to contact me. I have an open garage policy. My house is right off the 101, less than a mile. Safe travels next week.
Looking forward to some clam chowder with you guys in Morro Bay on the 13th.

That's very kind of you to offer, god willing we won't have to take you up on it.jay wrote:To my SoCal brothers, if you need a pit stop for repairs, caffeine, beer or last minute detailing please feel free to contact me. Me too. I was doing some Yelping and in addition to that Rusty Barnacle place we went last year, The Frying Dutchman and the Bearded Clam both got good reviews too.jay wrote:Looking forward to some clam chowder with you guys in Morro Bay on the 13th.
Jim, your M535i is so clean, I'm hopping it will rub off a bit on my M5 when you come within a certain radius.5280 JB wrote: Maybe I can help

I think I'm going to purposely drive back to Colorado via the south route through Bakersfield just so I can grab a clam chowder bread bowl at Splash Cafe.
I'm still homeless for Monday-Saturday... before I book a campground with my tent, anybody have a place I could crash?
Where did you source that radiator from? Long ago, I had similar experiences with a distributor in your area (of both OEM and Non-OEM parts).OcCoupe wrote:Let me set the records straight. I'm not out I'm just pissed. This radiator is 2 years old and has fewer than 3,000 miles on it. The pos cracked where the tank meets the bracket. This is the second radiator in 2 years. AND it is an oem radiator. Poop.
Looks like you guys need to start getting your road trip spare-parts-pool going. Just throw everything into a trailer and decide who's going to tow it.
Mesa Performance. They ordered an OEM radiator which I installed. It failed right away at the same spot. They replaced it with another OEM which is what is in the car now. This one lasted 26 months, just enough to be out of warranty.John SCB wrote:

Yep. It's hard to blame a distributor for parts that come from someplace else. BUT, that's what happened to me with an AFM, O2 sensors, and other various bits. Have you ever noticed the well-worn packaging many of the parts arrive in? I don't know where he gets them.OcCoupe wrote:Mesa Performance. They ordered an OEM radiator which I installed.
