It is a high quality E28 front bumper lip spoiler made from fiberglass and polyurethane (FRP) therefore it is a lot stronger. This spoiler supplied to several classic cars BMW racing teams.

638 is for the early (up to 9/84) valance. 654 is for the late (after 9/84) valance. The 638 will not fit the later valance and every single repop I've ever seen is the 638. Due to the way the late valance flares out forward of the wheel, it pushes out on the airdam and consequently, the airdam doesn't cover the whole valance. They both attach the same way (two screws on the side of the valance and one next to the fog lamp on each side).
I just signed up here but had my E28 for a number of years now. As I bought a spoiler from Redline I thought it was a good enough excuse
I thought some of you may be interested in seeing more pics of the spoiler in question. Apologies they are not the best and just some quick phone pics on a hungover Saturday morning. My car is also a 1987 model and it seems to fit really nice. Fit and finish are very, very good

The wheels do look small now but I do have 16" Alpinas to go on which will be repainted along with the spoiler.
