WTB: M5 Trunk Carpet Piece

Post by Chuckne »

Long shot I'm sure, but I have to ask. When I started my restoration I pulled the compete trunk carpet set out of my M5 and put it on a shelf. Magically, the piece that covers in inner fenderwell on the drivers side of the car (the piece just forward of the tool cover/box) is missing. So, hoping one of you might have a spare or if you don't want to split up a complete set I might be interested. Let me know and thanks.

Me thinks me has one - not from an M5, but anthracite from a plain ole e28. Need the part behind the jack, or on the support with the trim part on top or both?

That is a specific M5 part Lee. It is plush carpet like in the car not the mouse hair on the non-M cars.

Hope this helps,

The piece he is talking about covers the jack and has a compartment for a first aid kit.

I'm talking about the piece just forward of the piece that covers the jack. Basically, its just a small piece of molded carpet that covers the inner fenderwell. It fits between the jack cover/first aid box and the seatback bulkhead.
Thanks again

M5 Trunk kit

Post by Mab1957 »

Free bump for M5 trunk kit or pieces.

Chuckne, suggest you provide a picture of what you're looking for, I don't see it in my M5, but it is missing pieces too.

I need the kit pieces that cover the jack on the left and the battery box/antenna on the other side. Need the triangle and first aid kit too. We could team up on a whole kit to get them. If we can find a full trunk kit from salvage or a racer's conversion then we're in business, but I it isn't going to be easy. :dunno:

Salvage?

Post by Mab1957 »

Anyone know of an M5 that's been salvaged which could provide full trunk kit for M5BB, Chuckne and me to split up?

I pulled out all kinds of voodoo (chicken bones, frog eyes, and stuck pins into the voodoo doll of an M5) and cleaned my garage this weekend.....and there, right next to Jimmy Hoffa, was the carpet piece that I "lost". Amazing how things show up.
Thanks all.
