Avatar size

Is the avatar picture size really supposed to be 20kb? That sounds absolutely tiny. I tried resizing my last pic to get under that limit and I had to make it like 20 pixels high. WTH?

I even started with a cell phone pic size of 750kb. And used Windows photo gallery to resize. Am I doing something wrong?

20 kb is plenty for 100x100 pixel image. A lot of the avatars are under 5 kb. Use MS Paint and resize to 100x100 pixels or smaller. Make sure to save the file as a jpg. That should put you at around 15 kb, tops.

Agreed, Jeremy is right.

I'm surprised at how small files can get after I run them through an image program like gimp or Snagit which we use here at work. I can usually get them down to 100-200k easy, and those are decent size like 640x480.

Yeah im still having problems even with "paint". I reduced down to 100X66 pixels and still 61.4 kb. I guess its such a badass car that even a pic must by a proper size. haha.

I don't know where the 61.4k is coming from. Properties says that your small resized picture is 3.67kb.

Finally! When I downloaded the thumbnail on this thread it was like you said a few kb. The original resized image was 61.4kb
