Thats nuts.....no way. Not unlike these guys having to be winched down to a ships deck during high seas.

You think that looks crazy you should look up what RAST is.

Imagine dropping a small cable down to the flight deck to haul up a larger cable so you can be winched down on to the deck and secured in a RSD, bear trap, and then hauled into the hanger.

Shawn, you talking about the HIFR? Helocopter In Flight Refueling.

We use that if our flight deck is fouled for some reason or if the helo is to big to land, think CH-53. Biggest thing we can land on a DDG, DD, or CG is CH-46.
