Vehicle Description

You are bidding on 1989 BMW 735i, bought this was a dealer purchase 3yrs. ago. This is a rare 5-speed in the 7 series. Red with tan leather interior. The drivers seat has a wear spot at about the lower back level. I drove the car for work but i have 4 other vehicles so i'm selling this one. I replaced the center bearing, exhaust was replaced about a year ago, battery about 1yr. ago. the vehicle needs alittle TLC. It currently needs a clutch fan, and upper control arms. The lower control arms on both sides have already been done. The air needs to be charged and it will be working perfectly for those hot days. The car is a joy to drive. 4 new Dunlop speed rated tires where added less than 30 days old, has an eclipse head unit am/fm/cd. orginal bmw head unit is still working with code can go with the vehicle. Over all the car is in very good shape besides some minor fixs and the motor is very strong on the highway. If you have anymore questions about the vehicle please feel free to email.

Wow! I'd love that as a daily driver! I wish I had the courage to purchase a car pre-test drive, and mostly sight unseen!

Damn...I posted this in the wrong forum....meant to put it in the For Sale / Wanted area.
Sorry guys.

FastFiver....agreed...that's the major downside of eBay Motors to me. Unless the car is local, one of my e28 homies is nearby and can scope it out, or I know the car & owner, I'm not going to gamble on a car purchase via ebay.

Cheers,
Tim

Thanks Bahnstormer,

I appreciate the offer. I'm not going to pursue the car...not really in defensible position to buy another vehicle at the moment, unless I sell something. Still, I thought someone here might be interested in seeing the car...given its color and rarity as a 5spd e32.

Best,
Tim

Bill Powell has one of those manual transmission 7 series cars. I believe he said they only imported two or three hundred of them, so they are really rare in the US.

There's a nice e23 5-speed 733i for sale here in Portland for $1500 right now. Owned by a local '02 nut. If I needed a daily driver I'd snap it up.

They are AMAZING cars - I drove one once. Just make sure to check out every little electrical thing. Luckily this one doesn't have the self leveling suspension.......

Oh, and when I clicked on the thread I wondered why Tim was so excited about a owner's manual for an e39. I really need to get more sleep or something

Bought it!! My Dad's been looking for a 5 speed 7 series similar to the 730i he's had in Germany for the past 3 years. Needless to say they are rare in US.Body's good and straight. Paint ok, abit faded on the top surfaces. Significant needs include: UCA bushings are SHOT. Both front wheels slide rearward a half inch on braking and then clunk back when released. Driveline graunch/shudder only in 1st gear and high torque application. Fan clutch literally broken. Spins, but off center and balance. Few other little things.

Motor runs pretty good, needs plugs/tuneup. Brand new Dunlop A2's all around, exhaust 1 year/ battery fresh/ lower control arms been done.

All in all, fixable for reasonable time/money. Nice car otherwise. Paid under 2 grand.

Thanks to MZoom for helping me pickit up and get it home. :)

Hey Andrew,

HOT DAMN...glad someone here got this car!!! I know it needed some work but given the color and rarity of the 5spd....worth the entry price, I'm hoping.

Let us know how you make out in the resto work! Hope your Dad enjoys the car....

Send photos :D

Best,
Tim  :D

ps.
Shoot me a PM about what you actually paid for it since there were NO bids at the opening price of $1700 :) My guess is you paid south of $1500 :D

Yep he's a corrections officer (aka guard). But he seemed to be an OK guy. We went to his house and he was helpful and accomodating. Said he really can't stand the job anymore, and couldn't really quit since he's done it for so long. Kind of stuck. Former marine, discharged after he tore his knee up, or something. Nice family, straight up sort of guy.
