That car is stunning -- both mechanically and in appearance. Justin sent me some E24 taillight housings and lenses to play with, and I've worked out some LED brake, tail, turn, and "super-pseudo-fogs" to fit in them. The E24 parts are a breeze to work with, as the housing/reflectors are separate from the lenses, and they have unused areas (used on neither the US nor the Euro cars) that can be filled with LEDs. The "super-pseudo-fogs" would go in an area that's 1/3 the size of an E28 brake light area, but I can fit the same number of LEDs in there -- those of you who've seen my LED brake lights in operation can imagine how bright that would be!
Now, if Justin would just get back to me on my proposition...

Perhaps Phil (BMWCCA1) should speak with Justin's Father (what is his name?) and work on a story for this car in Roundel...or perhaps Bimmer? Not sure how comfortable I'd be riding around a car badged with the "mark of the beast" emblazened on it Very impressive car to say the least...I'd love to know more about it and see additional photos. Thanks for sharing...
Cheers,
Tim

Hey Guys,
Thanks for the kind words. Sorry I haven't gotten back sooner. The Car was originally a 1984 635csi, Diamond black over pearl beige. My Father bout the car in germany in early 86', shipped it back and had it ever since. The car remained stock up until a few years ago when I found a e23 745i in a local junk yard. From there we went with the M104 motor, ported polished and extrude honed the head, added soduim filled valves, forged pistons and rods, it was then balenced and blueprinted. Next the stock turbo manifold was extrude honed and ceramic coated. We went with a custom built intercooler, garret T5 hybrid turbo, and a autronic engine managment system. There is a lot more for the engine but thats right off of the top of my head. The suspension consists of eibach springs and Bilstein shocks ( ground control coil overs are on the way .) Brakes are stock size but have a high performance fluid, drilled and slotted rotors, and stainless steel brakelines. The body consists of a full metal body kit complete with fender flares, shaved filler neck, smoothed gaps between panels, one off carbon fiber hood, and soo much more. As for power I will say this, with the motor not fully tuned, not broken in, slipping clutch, smaller turbo, 4psi less boost, and on a 90 degree day it made around 440 hp and 445ftlbs at the wheels. Wheels are 3 piece fikse FM10's, 295 rear, 265 front. Interior consists of full roll cage, sparco ,milano seats covered in pearl beige leather custom gauges and again too much to remember. ShawnD I will send you an email tonight, Ted- thanks for posting pics (sorry we had to leave so soon, we'll talk though...)
- Last thing, the car was built by the brothers Mcginn at www.sports-car-restoration.com , and the engine was built at My Car garage in Naugatuck CT. BTW, the car kicked the ass of a new 911 twin turbo on the highway on the way back from Bavauto
