Well, in the interest of getting in a full report before the holidays (and to satisfy my undying curiosity), I've gone ahead and opened the PBE I received from RoyW. Overwhelmed, to say the least.

Here's a recap, zoom in for better detail.

A Christmas CD of '40s tunes (my favorite era for that BTW), and a copy of Roy's Road Trip Tunes ;)
Ass't auto stickers
Windshield sunshade (or snowshade)
Car detailing kit - No.7 wash, Griot's Paint Sealant, Sonax Wheel Cleaner, Microfiber towel
Plasticoated Master locks
Shawshank. 5 out of 5 stars in my house, and I didn't yet own a copy.
A pair of Motorola walkie-talkies (I've already picked up some juicy cross-talk in my G/F's condoplex)
Leather key-fob, tire pressure gauge, coin holder
Baggie of E28 necessities - lamps, fuses, door card clips, grille clips, etc
Seiko Pulsar Sport Watch, cellphone holster, pair of golf balls
BMW Art Car book, Racing Driver Development book, May 1979 Roundel, Bentley Factoid book
2002 shift knob, OctoberFest tie clip, Canadian bottle opener/key chain, headphone cable wrap
BMW of Watertown flashlight (ironically, a dealership I worked for in the 80s...)
BMW oil caddy w/funnels
A most generous 20% discount for auto detailing services. The M5 will definitely put that to good use.
Finally, the nicest part of the whole box, a handwritten Christmas card from Roy himself.

Image

This will be be hard to beat next year. Hell, it will be hard to beat by anyone else in my own family THIS year for that matter. Thanks for your generosity Roy, this is a fantastic gift box and I'm thoroughly enjoying it. I tried to keep the list objective but suffice it to say that some of this stuff is so well "gifted" that I could've rambled on for paragraphs about how thrilled I am about particular items. Merry Christmas / Happy Holidays to everyone here and a special thanks to davintosh for undertaking this.

I hope so too. Sent that bugger out on the morning of the 17th.

Oh. Im working til noon as well. Yay. NOT.
Yeah, I was surprised my box made it to Washington before yours made it here. PO can be pretty unpredictable sometimes, oh well.

The good side to working from 4am to noon today is the double pay! :)

As I mentioned earlier, I forgot my box at work on Friday  and intended to go get it today, but things got busy and that didn't work out... Tomorrow morning we're leaving town for the in-laws' house and won't be back until late. Going to have to wait until I get to work on Wednesday to open mine. Rats. :(

Love my priority exchange box.

Nothing in there that I did not need! (Might not have realized that I had to have the Burl Ives CD, but will listen to it after Pete Seeger. Everyting else fills a gap in my garage. Thank you Mr. M.

Glad you liked it. All those things in the plastic bag are a full set of fuel and A/C line disconnect tools and the red tube marked Thexton is for getting spark plugs started. I love 6-in-1 screwdrivers, remove the bits and you have a 1/4 nut driver for small hose clamps and a 5/16 nut driver for large hose clamps. Give the panel tool a few wraps of electrical tape at the bend in the shank, that way you don't scratch the paint when you are popping door panels.

Merry Christmas everyone. I'm down with the flu, but I will try to post pics of my box from Nick here shortly.......I'm wearing the jammy bottoms now ;)

A Ralph Lauren "Polo" leather wallet
"Scrubs" Season One on DVD
"Scrubs" Season Two on DVD

I don't know if the usb charger works, the lights came in the trunk of my 535i when I bought it. They're good for a Lemons car, or some other random use. The bracket and zip ties came with them.

Throw the SD card in a computer, I think there's a couple things on there.

Glad the love made it. I was afraid that would all leak out.

I finally got my box opened, and all I can say is THANKS, JAY! The piece de resistance is the January, 1987 edition of Car & Driver, with an article featuring an '88 735i 5-speed, my car! So far I've been too busy drooling over that magazine to pay much attention to anything else; that alone was worth the price of admission this year. Good thing it's a slow day at work. :D

Image

Looking at the photos from that article makes me want to track down a non-airbag steering wheel for mine; much nicer looking than the ugly thing I've seen in most every other e32.

Other than the magazine, the box had a CD full of files (looks like most everything he had collected about these cars; I'll be sifting through it for quite some time), a tool box foam insert with spare bullet fuses, a red diagnostic port cover (that will grace my eta's engine bay until it undergoes the Motronic 1.3 upgrade later this winter!) a bag of assorted bits that I haven't gone through yet, and a Roundel magazine from November, 2008... I'm thinking there's something significant in that copy, but I haven't spent much time looking through it yet.

Thanks again, Jay! And Merry Christmas!

Glad you and the kids are enjoying it! The rubber ball is a Lacrosse ball and Brian Regan is a comedian. Many laughs should be had watching that.

I'm pretty sure the camera just needs a screen, possibly a lens. You can get a parts camera on ebay for cheap.

Glad you enjoyed it Dave!
I agonized over what to send, poured thru all my stacks of mags etc.
The DVD has most every electronic tech doc/file I have accumulated over the years, including PDF copies of the E28 & E34 Bentley, factory binders, and all kind of weird/cool tech docs as well as pictures & articles scanned from many sources.
Merry Christmas!

I will get some pics of the super cool box of weird stuff I got from Rich in Tupelo/Tennessee tonight.
