Finally got a chance to put my new(ish) radio in. The red color actually matches well! The only thing I might do is find some bulbs to make the 4 blue buttons red as well. I used shagraths radio write up and skipped the amp and used the wiring that went back there. No more crackling speakers. No more cutting out when I hit the brake pedal. Nothing of the sorts. Saweet.

most important part of painting....before and after....Das_Prachtstraße wrote:Continued rubbing it down. Paint prep is a pita.
I enjoy it--wear a freaking mask!

so today I just drove it really fast and enjoyed it very much so.
tomorrow, new rear pads, possibly a selector rod fix, and a fluid check, also a ebrake adjustment.

I do actually find it quite calming most the time, but not after a 9 hour shift working in the same industry.pleasefixitup wrote:most important part of painting....before and after....Das_Prachtstraße wrote:Continued rubbing it down. Paint prep is a pita.

I wanted to fix my temp gauge and SI board. When i bought it, Kohler said its probably due to the batteries corroding the connections when they get old and leak. So i opened it up to assess the damage.
Here you can see that indeed one of the batteries has started to leak a bit.
And not being too familiar with these cars and thinking that the batteries were only for the SI board, i removed the batteries.
I inspected every connection and solder joint and couldnt find any corrosion or really anything wrong with the board.
The temp gauge still doesnt work.
I also found why my odomoeter doesnt work.

got a decent list done new calipers new oil pressure sensor that little guy began to leak furiously on the drive home light came on because it was leaking so much it couldn't get pressure there. i took it out on the side of the road and broke the plastic parts of the sensor away and filled the hole with solder and put the solder filled sensor back in to get her home. new sensor now installed. new radiator because my soldering skills could not stop the leak even though i tried 4 or 5 times i could get the leak to a very slow drip but i could not stop it. im still waiting for the ellipsoids to get that project going and i did an oil change.

Broke one thing and renewed another, and received a 12psi WG spring.
It took a whole 3 minutes to decide that I wasn't going to try to fix it
I have to admit, I like the feeling of a shifter stub...it effectively shortens the throw, and feels like a race car. But of course, it looks hideous next to my fancy cupholder...so I'll be replacing that knob ASAP.
And replaced my tires. Upgraded from Chinese tires to Japanese. Stayed with 225/45/17.
The old Sunny SN3800 tires were terrible, even for $60 each. They squealed like hell in corners, and wore out quick. I was going rotate them at around 5000 miles....but I don't think they lasted much more than that. The rears were bald, thanks to the turbo, and the fronts had worn the inside edge to the wire belts, thanks to very worn steering components
Replaced with Falken ZE912. Per tire, the costs were 90 for the tire, $2 "disposal fee/Ca recycling fee", $2 balance parts, $13 balance labor, $3 valve stem, $3.50 "scrap tire recycling charge", and finally $9 tax. Jeezus help me. I think I paid twice to get rid of those crap tires! Finally there will be added the cost of the new tie rods/drag link, and an alignment so I can support the 40K warranty on those new tires.

So I made yet another attempt to swap my driver lock out, this time with the passenger. That's a no go because the freaking lock setups are different. Who'da thunk?!
Also, received my awesome new-to-me billy sports in the mail and fixed up the threads. Might still file the one down and re-thread the entire shaft. Pics for fun.

adjusted the TPS, fixed the throttle body stop so it doesn't die when trying to get to idle (with the improvement in idle speed i need), fixed the tail light being out (blown fuse, probably from loose junk in the trunk, and a decrepit divider thing)
over the weekend i fixed my shifter, did an oil change, and replaced my intake bellows!
giving the e28 some love
