FS: Instrument Cluster With New Odometer Gears - Sold
This cluster was pulled from a yard car ('86 535i), but looks to be in decent shape. The trip meter was at all zeros when pulled, so I opened it up to check the odometer gears, and sure enough they were shot. Thanks to a generous Priority Box Exchange sender a couple of years ago (thanks, Duke!) I had a set of new OdometerGears.com gears in my garage, so it installed them this afternoon, using the excellent article in the Tech FAQ. Installation went smoothly; all gears appear to mesh properly, and both the trip meter & odometer advance properly when the gears are turned by hand.
Looking for $75 shipped anywhere in the lower 48. (Elsewhere for a bit more to cover shipping.) PayPal or money order works for me.

The yard guy was too quick with his blue marker; got his mark on it before I could tell him not to bother. He should know me by now!

Yes, buying an untested bit of electronics and mechanicals that came out of a junkyard car is a little scary; I'd be hesitant too. I just haven't had the opportunity to stick it in my car to make sure everything works. Until I do get the opportunity to test it, if you're willing to take a chance, I'm willing to take a chance as well; I'll ship it to you sans payment. If it checks out, send your payment and keep it. If it doesn't, I'll pay you to ship it back. The only thing you risk is a little time.
