Looks like a pretty nice B7 at 0:24wkohler wrote: ....
As early in the morning, it was time to go to Cars and Coffee in Irvine, CA. I had been there before with Greg's 745i, but figured it would be good to take the B7. It was received pretty well. I didn't take any pictures and while I saw people taking pictures of it, a cursory Google search produced no results. I got some very positive feedback from people whose opinions I respect.

Neat seeing the car in the video. I should probably get a license plate or something.
Just another example; The B10 3,5 started in the E28 with low production of say around 70 cars with the "B10" motor, but continued into the E34 chassis, which they called the "B10 3,5/1." Since the E28 and E24 B10 was based on the 3430cc M30B34 which pre-dated the E34, those motors were not used. Produced concurrently with those were the E32 B11, which saw three different powerplants based on the M30B35. Since B10 3,5/1s were produced on E34 535s, they used the B11/3 motor. It gets confusing. I guess I took the long way around to say that the number 1 means it's number 2.
Alpina used a "/1" to denote a revision of some sort. The first B7 Turbo sedan was an E12, simply called a B7. The motor was stamped "B7" along with the number of the car where you'd find the last 7 of the VIN on a BMW motor, above the starter. When the B7 Turbo moved to the E28, it was a revised version, getting the "/1." The motor was different, so my block is stamped, "B7/1 0083." The E24 chassis changed in 9/82, so Alpina referred to the E28-based cars as E24/1. They got a slightly different motor (320hp vs 300) since they were a heavier and more expensive car than the sedan. These motors were noted as "B7/2." Then late production for both E28 and E24, saw the addition of catalysts and even more power necessary, upped to 330. These motors got the "B7/3" designation. Since the chassis remained the same, they stayed as "B7/1" and were numbered as part of the 278 cars on the E28 chassis. That was the end of the B7, but had it continued into the E34, they probably would have done a B7/2, etc.unt0uchable wrote: Chris, I do have a question about the thread title, if it means anything or not.

What does that bolded/red part mean?

Chris is right but not entirely, the only reason for /1 designation on e28s and e24 were indication for 3.5L engine and newer engine management (motronic). And all B7Turbo e28s and e24s were considered as /1 revision all the way to end of production. For instance my B7Turbo which is #259 out of 278 that came with 330 HP and 378T originally and still /1 is the designation. Also haven’t seen any /2 or /3 yet.

I just found your thread today on this rebuild. I literally sat here for a couple of hours reading all the posts starting from the first page. Reading this thread, in my opinion, is comparable to watching a really good movie. I was a bit frustrated while reading about the window issue. I am glad to see you were able to get it resolved.
What an amazing restore and very cool that you captured the process on this forum!
Congratulations on obtaining and restoring such a great car!
What do you have remaining?

Ehh... As far as I have heard (in all times), the E28 B7 turbo came with 300 hp (B7/1 and B7/2 engine). The E24 came with 330 hp (B7/3 engine), due to the extra weight compared to the E28 B7 - so that the E24 B7 would keep up the road performance figures with the E28.
The E28 B7 TurboKat came with 320 hp, with the B7/3 engine from the E24 - only with 320 hp due to the Kat.
The E24 B7 TurboKat did have 320 HP too...
I have heard rumours of one (or more) E28 B7 Turbos (non-kat) have recieved the 330 B7/3 engine from the E24 on special order from new.
As far as I have read, the #259 was delivered without cat - but I do not know what the exact Alpina fabrication scheme says on that car.
On my Alpina-papers, it says that my car has the B7/3 engine with Kat and 320 HP.

I agree and know that the engines were marked with /2 or /3 revisions because of the update that each received, but on all cars /1 was the only indication for e28 B7T, however there were only 4 cars built with 330 HP and 378 T with out Catalytic Converter on M5 chasse and mine #259 is one of them.
also some info here as well.

I FINALLY GOT MY FRONT SPEAKERS!!!!!!!!!!!1111111one
Thanks so much to pldlnr for keeping an eye out and eventually coming across a set listed on a site in the UK. They cost a bunch, but all in all, it wasn't a bad deal even with the shipping. All I can say is I'm glad they were available, they took my money and they actually shipped them. That's like 4 for 15 dealing with UK sellers.
That's the high-res photo from their website.
They didn't do the greatest job packing them and someone needs to teach them not to put packing tape on the actual items they're shipping, but they're the right speakers and are in pretty great shape despite their best efforts to destroy them.
Huzzah!
Oh, and the car is still around. The paint has been on it for over a year now and it looks just as good today as it did when I put the stripes on it. Haven't driven it much since October. I was afraid to put a car cover on it, but my garage gets pretty dusty and I didn't like having to wipe it down every so often. I clayed and re-waxed the car this morning, and it's now sitting with the cover on. Our CCA chapter car show is next weekend, so it will be there along with the M535i.
