One out of 4? Or there are only 4? I'm confused. I'd search, but there's no wiki.wkohler wrote:There is a link to subscribe to the topic in the lower left. You can bookmark it too. Another great feature but since I'm one of four people that know how to effectively and efficiently use the search function, it's not that useful.
I seem to be pretty good at finding things. Maybe I should get some sort of "pretty good at finding things" title.
Updated forum software

Re: Updated forum software
Clicking on a link opens it in the same window even though I have instructed Firefox to open a link in a new tab. How come?

Re: Updated forum software
My only qualm is the avatars on the left. Had some trouble logging into it on Tapatalk, but otherwise, fantastic!
Thanks guys!
Thanks guys!
Re: Updated forum software
The avatar on the left drives me nuts as well. That would be my only suggestion. To me it feels more natural to see who the post was from and then read the post.slammin_e28 wrote:My only qualm is the avatars on the left. <snip...> but otherwise, fantastic!

Otherwise, I am glad we are finally on a current version of phpBB...
Re: Updated forum software
This is what I was going to bring up. The default on the old forum was the have all embedded links open in new windows/tabs. If it's an option on the new software, it would be far preferable.demetk wrote:Clicking on a link opens it in the same window even though I have instructed Firefox to open a link in a new tab. I didn't like it at first, but I have to say it makes the conversation more interesting. I find myself reading the content without thinking about who is saying it.KillerPM wrote:The avatar on the left drives me nuts as well. That would be my only suggestion. HAH. I didn't even see that until you mentioned it... We used to have post counts but it became a "Post count pissing contest".
Re: Updated forum software
Anybody else want to openly admit that they don't know their left from their right?KillerPM wrote:The avatar on the left drives me nuts as well. That would be my only suggestion. Re: Updated forum software
I think that was mostly the fault of the "ranks" we used to have which changed as your post count hit certain milestones. Post count is never a good indicator of post quality though, so I never saw the need to openly display it like that. Kyle and I have similar post counts, for instance, but I'd trust his knowledge on a number of topics more than my own.KillerPM wrote:HAH. I didn't even see that until you mentioned it... I am a right-handed guy, and on the iPad sometimes I'm touching accidentally the user info when I'm scrolling...Jeremy wrote:Anybody else want to openly admit that they don't know their left from their right?KillerPM wrote:The avatar on the left drives me nuts as well. Anyway, the new forum engine rocks.
To cek: The wiki was here always, it's called Tech FAQ.

Where did the rest of the posts go?

WTH, had to move my chair!!!
Thanks for the upgrade Jeremy. Good job sneaking that in while we Vintaged. Got back to a screen and BAM new stuff.
As commented elsewhere, the shift from left author info to right side author, moving the message to the left side of the screen...I have to move my chair over to get the full enjoyment.
Nice work, I'm sure there is more so, thanks in advance.
Yes, lock this thread.
Interesting how no one is abandoning ship because they could not keep up like the 6er crowd when the roach changed formats without getting their blessing. We're staying.

Re: WTH, had to move my chair!!!
Would be nice to have links open in a new tab automatically. Or is this possible and I haven't found it yet.

Click the link with your mouse scroll wheel or CTRL+ click will open links in a new tab.Blue Shadow wrote:Would be nice to have links open in a new tab automatically. Or is this possible and I haven't found it yet.
Re: WTH, had to move my chair!!!
Why would I do that when I have new tools to play with? Congratulations, you're the first victim of the "merge threads" feature.Blue Shadow wrote:Yes, lock this thread.
People seem to forget that the exodus from Roachfly was due to WAY more than just a format change.Blue Shadow wrote:Interesting how no one is abandoning ship because they could not keep up like the 6er crowd when the roach changed formats without getting their blessing. We're staying.
Re: Updated forum software
Pretty sure the new software is broken. I can't seem to use the uploader and that Tailpipe thingy is malfunctioning again, as I can't seem to make a post.
Re: WTH, had to move my chair!!!
Firefox handles that automatically for us. Somehow the Firefox option is disabled in this new version of MyE28.Jeremy wrote:Click the link with your mouse scroll wheel or CTRL+ click will open links in a new tab.Blue Shadow wrote:Would be nice to have links open in a new tab automatically. Re: Updated forum software
Safari does it too. I have to press ⌘ and click in the new Supercharged MyE28.com.
