Hats off to your personal and inspiring effort.
Please tell us how it feels compared to the B34. Maybe some stats before and after the B35?
Hope you perennially smile with every mile.
Thank you for sharing.

You're going to 5erWest, right? I fully expect you to partake in a beer or two with me.leadphut wrote:x2Drew in NYC wrote:Unless I missed something, it's not- Euro bumpers still remainingknunger wrote:Damn! I'm sorry it's over!

Re: "Vlad": The Zinno '87 535is (now with a B35)
Damn! I'd love to. I actually leave on the 18th for our annual family gathering. However, my youngest daughter and I will fly into Seattle on the 24th for lunch at the space needle. We'll then take the train to Portland later that day. I'll buy the first beer if you want to join us.cek wrote:You're going to 5erWest, right? Very nicely executed! So, now for the important stuff.....how does it drive?
Re: "Vlad": The Zinno '87 535is (now with a B35)
Flipping awesome. Between the suspension I put on last year, the E34 sport seats, the lightened flywheel, short shift kit, and this motor it is just non-stop, shit-eating grins. Solid in every regard.m-racer wrote:Very nicely executed! So, now for the important stuff.....how does it drive?

Cek this has turned out to be a very very nice build. Congrats
It is screaming for Euro Bumpers .... and maybe rear headrest
You will probably have to shorten the exhaust tips once you do the bumpers as well.

I actually have a set of rear headrests for it...
Re: "Vlad": The Zinno '87 535is (now with a B35)
I don't see what the rush for Euro bumpers is. Looks nice as an IS.
Re: "Vlad": The Zinno '87 535is (now with a B35)
I agree. It looks great. It also depends on how you drive it. If a garage queen, I would probably do it because I like the look. If a driver, not so sure. My last 3 E28's all had euro bumpers and I was always worried that someone was going to tag it frrom behind. I have been hit hard from behind in an E28 with US bumpers and they do their job. Also hit from behind in 2 2002's. One with and one without euro bumpers. The US bumpers (friggen ugly as they are) again, worked. Whatever you decide, it looks like a great car.

This x1000. This car looks awesome, your build and your climb up the learning curve were both great to watch (though I am also envious of the apparent time you have to devote to such things, having none at all at the moment myself), and a nice iS looks good to me. I don't subscribe to the notion that all good E28s must have Euro bumpers.wkohler wrote:I don't see what the rush for Euro bumpers is. Looks nice as an IS.

On the euro bumpers. I do think they look better. But for things like this (including the B35 project) it's not the destination but the journey for me. A euro bumper project, where I build a relationship with a body/paint guy and go through the process is baby steps for a future project...one where I do a ground up restoration of something to Concours condition.
I appreciate the comments guys!

I know this may be a dumb question, but I'm going to be parking next to this in Portland, right?
Also, who was that enthusiastic admirer in the photo above? She definitely has good taste.

Glad I edited my original question. That would have been...awkward Friday.cek wrote:Yes, you will.vinceg101 wrote:I know this may be a dumb question, but I'm going to be parking next to this in Portland, right?

Re: "Vlad": The Zinno '87 535is (now with a B35)
didn't the community already decide the stainless steel lug bolts were preferred over the black ones? you'll probably want to change those out before 5er West.
