Pete, me also. It looks like there are some great routes already defined for morning and afternoon runs in and around Eureka Springs. Im thinking the route 7 run from Eldorado will be spectacular or at least that what it says on the internet. I have never driven up that way so I am looking forward to it. Barbeque, beer, great cars, good friends, good times with no driving mandates come and go as you please, drive with or without others, sleep in, get up early its all up to the individual but there will always be a good time at the end of the day and even though its not a directed drive no one gets left on the side of the road for very long. RTT.. Just for the fun of it! :D

As of this morning, 25 cars registered for RTT.

In addition, two will be coming from Toronto who have not registered yet for a total of 27 cars.

And it's RTT flashback Monday!

Sorry to say. I have to bail. Just can't take the time off. Sadly, if it were a couple of weeks later, I could free myself up. Just can't spare the two days out and two days back. One of these days.

I'm not going to be able to make it either gents. Taking a whole week is a little tricky right now. I'm free Thurs-Mon, but I'll have to be home Monday so I'm camping instead.

I might be able to pull something off at Halloween.

That's a bummer Rodney. Not sure at this point in time about a Fall drive. I spoke with Hunter at Ted's Festival and he said there's a secret twisty road drive in Ohio.

Help me understand - El Dorado, AR?
I was about to make my reservations (having been cleared for takeoff by the controller) when my brain latched on to El Dorado. Why? (No disrespect to El Dorado native sons intended.) Unless you have business with Murphy Oil Company or the Lion Oil refinery, or start the 2014 RTT, I can't think of a reason to go there. We're talking Mississippi Delta country without the Blues. 300 miles from the Gulf of Mexico and <300 ft. above sea level. That's FLAT.
Maybe there's sumthin I missed. If so, please let me know. Otherwise, I'm tempted to spend night 1 at Petit Jean State Park Lodge and take in the Winthrop Rockefeller Automobile Museum.
Hate playin'' the Debbie Downer card so late in the game. I'm definitely in for Eureka Springs, made reservations for Sept 2,3, 4. Room with two beds if someone needs to share.
Might swing over to Tulsa (Hallett Motorsports Park) on Friday to say hi to the BMW HPDE folks. It's a great track and they run an awesome event "No Excuses".

I will have someone respond to this. I didn't design the routes this year so I dont know.

Eldorado is not the destination it is the beginning of the event, which actually happens on tuesday morning in the parking lot of the hotel. El Dorado was chosen as the beginning because it is flat and gives those driving from Eldorado to Eureka Springs via the famed highway seven a signifcant reference for elevation and terain changes as the group heads north. Many participants will have to travel for two days in order to reach Eldorado. After two days in the car the only thing people will want to do is have a beer, grab some grub and get a resonable nights sleep in order to begin the tour in the flat lands of Eldorado and head north on 7 on tuesday morning.

One of the best things about RTT is its self directed. If you dont want to stay in Eldorado then no worries you can catch up with the group in Eureka Springs or hook up with us some place along the way on 7.

Eldorado is also a cool name as is Eureka Springs. Think about it Jim, the mythical city of Eldorado with all its gold and then the city of Eureka which is what you will say as you head north on 7 and you realize why we started in the grubby little town of Eldorado. You will say "Eureka, I understand now. How could I have been so stupid. ha!

Honestly I understand your point and if you just want to go it alone or with others and meet us in Eureka springs its perfectly fine. Eldorado is less than a days drive for you texans so if you want to go to a museum some place else and have some patte' and wine we still love you and look forward to seeing you anywhere and any time during the three days of driving. But remember its seven days of driving for those from Florida and Canada compared to 5 days for most participants. Thanks for your question, comment and suggested option. Its the RTT way. Im looking forward to having a beer with you !

Jim, I had my group of consultants get back to me on the issue and its not about El Dorado itself but El Dorado as a starting point to drive Highway 7 to Eureka Springs.

I just quickly mapped the drive and it looks totally awesome. Here is one possible route:

OK, running 7 from end to end makes for a cohesive Adventure. I'll see you in El Dorado on Labor Day.
Coming from the North, you could take a ferry across the Mississippi north of Memphis.
