Discourse

Post by tig »

Since this community is so open to change, and so willing to embrace new things, I figured it'd be a no brainer for us to all get on board moving mye28.com to a new form of forum/BBS: http://www.discourse.org/

Seriously, I'm really excited about Discourse and want to see it take off. The guys behind it are awesome (they started and ran Stack Overflow, if you know what that is). I want at least ONE of the forums I frequent to move to it.

I'd be down.

I wonder what it takes to mirror what we have here now over to discourse?...so then people can pick and choose mye28.com or mye28discourse.com. :D

Here we go!

So besides looking a bit different, as in more minimal, what makes it really any better?

I think you've mistaken us for some other group of eccentrics.

Anyway, the ideas expressed by members here are conveyed perfectly well using this current format. Having another newfangled idea conveyance format isn't going to enhance that purpose.

Me thinks some are intent on stirring the pot.

"Civilized Discussion. On the Internet."

This is mye28 you are talking about, right?

I don't know what you guys are talking about and I think the idea is stupid... "Progress" isn't always a good thing.

I hate change unless it is on one of my cars. I just got used to the change on this site, I hated it at first and didn't come back for months.

Looks like the biggest difference is the social media format. Seems like there are a number of sites going to this. I can see a number of benefits in using this on a tablet or smartphone, however that's not to say the current format doesn't work just fine on either.

I think the biggest issue with phpBB is that it's old, outdated, and there are more streamlined utilities out there.

Progress can be good, but change is a b*tch.
