Pavel,
Looks great. Lots of work has gone into that one. I'd better get to work on my rust bucket.

Wow, surprised about that rust after you pulled the old rear tail lamp panel.

Well it might not have been the same rear tail panel installed in Germany in '87. My buddy Todd thinks the car has been in a collision in that area before, possibly a pass side impact which involved replacing the panel. But the job wasn't done very well.

Finally some updates - painted. The car should be back home Monday (fingers crossed). It definitely took more than expect, considering that TexFest is coming up, but I know it's done right. The bumpers are painted, waiting at home to be mounted.

Well, here it is. Everything is put together, redid my rear shifter bushing, the shifter cup and the reverse light switch. Dropped in a fresh TRE 255 LPH fuel pump (thanks for the help Sherman!)

Some quick cell phone pictures (HDR  )

Proper pictures will start surfacing out during TexFest VI. A nice wash and vacuuming are pending.

And then we hit the road! :) :haul:

Now that's looking pretty sporty! Makes me think getting the rest of the euro bumper parts for mine is the way to go.

I've always been a fan of a stock M5, but that looks awesome. Well done.

Yeah Chris, I always had second thoughts about doing this conversion. But as my dad said on the phone to me on Sunday - "Congrats on the new car!" (rather sarcastically), the car completely changed.

Already started parts hoarding for the new project

Pretty much. Just need the rubber and the metal trim pieces that cover the corner connections.

Let's see how long that will take. Euro conversion was about a year and some change with accumulating all the parts and funds.

Yet another stage nearly completed. Nicely done! I'm now waiting on my euro bumpers to come in as well. Found a donor car so i'm psyched about that. Your pics got me more excited.

Quick question about your skid plate you mentioned on the first page of the thread. Could you please post more info about it? Do you have pics, a price, and seller info? Am really interested in getting one to cover my exposed oil pan i replaced recently.

Thanks in advance and keep posting pics of your car's progress!

TexFest was a blast! Met some new faces and lots of familiar ones.

I will drop the eye candy here as it goes. Here is some from the killboy equivalent at 337. (txmotofoto.com)

Dodged a rolling tire and a cooler full of booze on I-10. But got into a meteorite shower half way between Houston and San Antonio. One low beam got cracked even though it's laminX (atleast the glass stayed together).

And also the tranny fluid didn't wanted to stay in the G280 anymore. Still gotta look at that.

Well another Feb 9th has passed and that marks my 2nd year of ownership of a legendary car.

2014 was a good year for the E28 - euro look, some small maintenance but more so the M5's petrolicious feature.

The miles were limited this year with just one trip to the Three Sisters for TexFest VI. Nonetheless it was a blast!

The plans for the future haven't changed, its all matter of time.

I will leave you with this shot of my new license plate :D

I love it, of course.

Do your exhaust tips stick out past your bumpers?

From about 75 degree angle. Originally i expected to be far worse, but then I though others have manage to pull it off I should be fine ;)

I've always thought my sterbo stuck out too far... Like they designed the tips to be parallel with the U.S. Bumpers, which sucks when you switch to euro bumpers!

That was something I could never fix on my 535is because of how the pipes came out of the muffler. The earlier one I had on the M535i could have been but I didn't care by that point.

Few weeks back, I got invited to participate in a grand opening of a new BMW dealership in Houston on June 15th. The invite was fwd to me by, of course no other, but Sherman. ;)

So what better excuse but to have the car fully detailed to mirror finish.

And then some pictures from yesterday. BMW NA CEO was present at the event, Sherman even discussed with him "BMW classic" politics.

Looking good

When a new BMW dealership is opened and the best stuff inside it is from 25 or more years ago, surely that's not a good sign...
