I considered it, but i couldn't have put it on yet anyway due to newness of paint. May still do it after we fix the chip.

Noticed engine temps sticking at 12 o'clock while in stop and go traffic this morning. Normally sticks at 10:30 with rare adventures to 12.

Guessed it was aux fan.

Tonight I used Bentley to diagnose. Saw 13+ volts at both temp sensors. Jumpering them failed to run fan. Tested volts at fan plug and saw 8-9 volts (!?!).

With sensor connections jumpered, wiggled wires going to aux fan relays (front of fuse box) and got fan to come on.

Got it to stay on with wires "just so".

Means I get to tear into wire harness/fuse box and figure out the real culprit. For now I'm ok I think.

Anyone else ever seen this?

Sounds completely normal for an engine/harness that's been taken apart, put back together and had the ever living daylights cleaned out of it. Trons is trons.

That part of the harness has not been touched by me... it's the wires that sneak by the fuse box to the aux fan relays on the left side of the box.

Ok, if you say so. I searched and didn't see any other threads mentioning a similar symptom. Lots of people seem to have melting around fuse 14 & 17, but no threads indicated wiggling the wires fixed it or a voltage drop like I saw.

Put in 11.609 gallons.

That's 18.09 mpg. I'd say the OBC econometer is now working just about right. A little turn of the potentiometer clockwise should nail it. Note this was what I got after my initial adjustment.

I'm not complaining about the mileage either, the way I drive.

A nice drive to the airport. If things go well, on the return drive through lovely Puyallup, we'll be picking up an M20 block for Maytag together.

The honeymoon is over; first rock chip, and now Vlad is relegated to pick-em-up-truck. This makes me sad.

I really think you should just ship him to Germany so I can take care of him the way he deserves; thrashed regularly on twisty mountain roads.

Sadly, I was unable to get to the seller. Perhaps it will happen this weekend. I have no issue at all with using this car for any and everything appropriate. I built it to drive every day.

I'd love to ship it to Germany and let you drive it. :)

Do yourself a favor and install some protection film from Mister Fixit.
At the very next rock strike you will be thankful.
