Cluster in my M5 needs a rebuild. Who have you fine folks used for repair and rebuild?

After seeing the attitude from the bavrest guy in the S14 Facebook group, I wouldn't do business with them.

There is a spot in Redondo Beach 'CA called Pauls speedometer. He isn't cheap but he is the best, been doing it for 40 years and on a side note he shared his lot with an independent BMW shop so he knows them.

Jeff from Odometer Gears rebuilt one for me at The Vintage. I do not believe they do that on the regular though. On his website he has a list of repair shops. There is one in Portland as well as many others on the west coast. Can anyone vouch for Portland Speedometer Inc?

Yeah, had a similar experience with that guy years ago. Not a pleasant fella to deal with.

I called a few times and left two messages - nobody called back. Not much I can do with that, unfortunately :/

Unfortunately bimmeronly doesn't work on cars older than the 1995 7 series. I got bad vibes via email After asking for a quote from bavrest. YMMV, but I'd rather send my money elsewhere

Saw a FB post today on the E30 page. They recommend e30_dad - email bimmerhead1@gmail.com. Maybe he works with E28 clusters, too.

Ivo Christov (user ovide)is the man. He's in the Netherlands, so shipping might add to the cost of a rebuild, and the turnaround time, but might not hurt to check.

@dabimz, where did you get your gears from and what year is your e28?
