Anyone headed to Vintage in Saratoga NY this Saturday?
Thought I’d check in to see if anyone from these parts are headed that way. Unfortunately our M5 isn’t ready yet. We’ll be taking the 135i vert. (Not showing it, only up to 99 in the show)

I'd love to make that trip in the 2002tii one year. It's a great show. Have fun!

I can't believe, with all my connections in the Capitol District for all these decades, that I have never attended. It's a fantastic show, very nicely run. Go if you are able. And take lotsa photos!

FUUUUDGE I missed it, AGAIN, because I wasn't paying attention...
Seriously, vintage BMW owners (or folks interested in capturing the attention of vintage BMW owners) need to get WAY, WAY better at social media and at community organizing. I follow the Saratoga Auto Museum on Instagram, and saw ZERO notifications of this event, one of the exceedingly few (if not the only) vintage-BMW events in the Northeast of the United States.
Also, check out this post: https://www.instagram.com/p/CyBYx2GgD7i/ Isn't it a thing of beauty? ZERO indication of date or time, ZERO "link in bio", ZERO information other than "it's happening rain or shine".
Perhaps this is just the way it is, perhaps Saratoga is incredibly cliquey and it's the same 15 or 20 guys every year, who knows. Perhaps this is why at every "cars & coffee", every café meet, every event, every club, every drive, every anything, you'll find 80 Porsches, and only 10 BMWs (5 of which are lowered, tuned and customized to an inch of their life), and 10 of "all the rest".
Don't get me wrong, I'm not necessarily interested in becoming buddy-buddies with everyone and anyone that has an old BMW, but it's definitely nice to look at other people's cars, share project ideas or exchange intelligence in person, outside of the internets, exposed to the elements.

Re: Anyone headed to Vintage in Saratoga NY this Saturday?
I went to Vintage at Saratoga this past Saturday and it was, unfortunately, a very wet event. It is a 2 or 3 day event if you want to partake in all the activities, e.g., dinner, drive, show, etc., but the car show itself is on Saturday at the Saratoga Auto Museum parking lot in front of the Museum. I only attended the Saturday portion.
As stated by others, it is always a well run and fun event, and generally attended by 100+ cars every year. But, because of the rain (and heavy at times) this year's attendance was less than half that I'd say... still it was very enjoyable to see many old friends (and cars) and meet a number of new enthusiasts and their cars. The display this year at the Museum was the James Bond cars... and they were spectacular!
Here's a few pictures I took from under my umbrella Many of you old timers might recognize Ted's 535is (Lucy) in the pictures... he stopped by my place on Thursday and my wife and I detailed his car, and we had a great visit reminiscing the old days of Vintage, 5erFest, Pittsburgh VGP, TedFests, etc. Those days were simply the best!!
