82-88 BMW E28 14" 528E 14X6 FACTORY ORIGINAL ALLOY WHEEL RIM & CAP 1125698 OEM

Post by bogdaneise »

Hello,
I have a set of original wheels that i would like to swap on my car. I was told that the only tires would be the metric ones that Coker tires makes them and they are never available. I have seen some cars out there with P195/70R14 90T or 195/65/r14. Any ideas if these sizes would work on this wheels? I really want the original wheels on the car and i am tired of waiting on Coker tires. Thank you!

If they are 14s, yes, regular 14" tires will work just fine. That part number appears to be a 14" wheel. I believe most or all 528e's came with 14s, unlike most or all of the M30, 533/535 cars, which came with the dreaded TRX wheels which require TRX tires from Coker and are extremely expensive, but lousy tires. Both 14s and TRX are the same BMW wheel style, meaning they look pretty much the same. You need to look at them and see if they say 14X6 or 165TR390. Look at ALL of them, mixed and matched wheels aren't uncommon. But with a 528e I think you're probably good.

Those are the metric wheels that require the TRX tires. Your options are selling the wheels for scrap if tired looking or hoping someone needs some period correct wheels if in great shape and buying some 14-15-16" wheels with a 5x120 bolt pattern of the proper offset for use with an E28 or getting tires from Coker.

https://www.cokertire.com/tires/365mm.h ... &network=o are your options at Coker. Original size was the 200 on the E28 the 220 width was on the E24 and it will fit but the steering will be a bit heavy. It is the tire you should use if you are going to drive the car as the 200 width are NOS and could be dated in the 90s or older which means use on a trailer queen only driven to position at a concours.
