E28 CSL Widebody

Post by alberto flores »

Hello everyone!

I am currently building a wide body for my e28 and I have done the design based on the e9 CSL.

It's been quite a lot of work and wanted to share to see what is the e28 community opinion about my project.

I know that opinions can be very different but I hope you guys like it as much as I am enjoying the process of building it.

Wow! Looks like a lot of work and effort to form the flares etc. Great job so far!

Are you familiar with the M5 CSL that was built by Mats Kinnby some years ago? viewtopic.php?f=7&t=67418 Unfortunately most of the picture links in that discussion are broken but there are a couple video links that still work. He sold the car some years ago but I think it was still in Sweden somewhere.

There are various pictures of it floating around online, if you do a search on 'e28 m5 csl' you should be able to find some. They may be useful for inspiration. There were body molds that were sold with the car, if you can track down the current owner they may still be available.

Interesting. To say it looks like a lot of work is a gross understatement. I guess the OP has done things like this before, but wow.

More of an artform then anything!

Are you going to make molds afterwards for fiberglass?
God forbid something happens to the car (other drivers on cellphones?), you would want to be able to recreate the shape without all that hard work again.
