Help needed to ID head - SOLD

Post by sashaM5 »

Hello,

I need help with identifying this head. Helping to clean garage of my recently passed friend. Any idea what it's worth?

s38 cylinder head with cam box. based on the "90" stamps, it's probably a b36 head.

Looks like it may have been freshened up. I'm not sure what it is worth but let us know if you want to put it on the market

Thank you! I will post it. Trying to figure out its condition and determine the asking price.

Take detailed pictures of the combustion chambers. Cracking between the valve seats is a common problem. If this is good the head is worth a lot more.

yes, this for sure. i thought it looked awfully clean, too. pictures of each individual cylinder, with close ups on all four valves per cylinder, will be quite helpful. i'm too out of touch with the market for the value, but i have an s38 that needs a cylinder head... would potentially be interested, pending price.

Great suggestions! Thank you all.

I took more pictures and videos. See the link below. I am no engine builder, but everything looks great to me. I don't see any cracking anywhere. Maybe I am not looking in the right places...

That does look like it is in good shape. Do you have the valves, springs, retainers and cam followers? If you are looking to sell it I'm sure there are a few of us out here that would be interested.

I am selling it for my recently passed away friend. I don't think I have anything else for this head. I have a tentative offer of $1000 from a San Francisco Bay Area (local to me) mechanic. If there are better offers out there, please let me know.

Thank you all.

i don't have a ton of excess cash at the moment, but i'd be interested in it at that price point, provided there were no obvious cracks.
