Hello,
I just purchased a 533i that needs some work done. Do you have any recommendations on mechanics in the MA or NE area?
Thank you

Wile Motorsport in Walpole MA works on my E30 (race car) - they tackle all kinds of jobs and are definitely an enthusiast shop.

There are a couple places around, what kind of work do you need done? If your on an island (like Martha's Vineyard) you may want to see how much you can figure out yourself? Get cozy with the "Green Bible" ( Bentley Manual) and get wrenching!
Working on these cars is not that hard for the most part, and there is plenty of knowledge in places like this that can help. Search "Baseline" and you will see what some do to a new to them car to get it up to snuff, and more reliable.

Do you know anyone who would rebuild a 260 around us?Chimi-Changa wrote: Oct 16, 2024 10:11 AM There are a couple places around, what kind of work do you need done? You can always call around to the known places and see where they might recommend, but a 260 might not be that expensive to replace with a known working one- compared to the cost of hiring a professional to take one apart.
Whats the issue with yours?

It is grinding from 4th to 3rd, shifts ok, and I think the detent is bad because the shifter does not center, I did call a couple of shops but not a lot of people will rebuild, Luie's told me he would do it, but he goes to Florida on the winter.Chimi-Changa wrote: Nov 22, 2024 7:01 PM You can always call around to the known places and see where they might recommend, but a 260 might not be that expensive to replace with a known working one- compared to the cost of hiring a professional to take one apart.

The guys from Wile Motorsport are going through my e28 now and just giving it a tune-up. They seem to be really nice.
I will be looking for a replacement 260.
