If you have a Super ETA (not sure if it's the same as an ETA in this specific respect) I would check the upper water pump hose where it's closest to the fan blade. If you have a 533i check the lower hose near the (I think) water pump pulley (you'll need a flashlight). In both cases clearances are tight and it's easy to rub holes in the hoses.
As usual, don't ask me how I know...

Man, I didn't pack nearly that much for my 4500 to 6K trips back in when it was the vacation car. And it routinely had to put up with 110+ temps.
It's been done before, but I'll expound and just focus on parts.
Voltage regulator
Fuel pump
Headlight bulb if you're running H4's and not sealed beams
Upper radiator hose if you're really worried, but no need for the lower, it lasts much longer as it has cool water going thru it. And I never even bothered with the upper.
A bit of wire, jumpers, connectors, main relay
ECU if you're worried.
Water
oil
hand cleaner
paper towels
shop rags
small bag of tools
That's about all that's going to stop you. Oh, make sure your're spare has air in it too

Obviously you don't have a wife that packs like mine does, because that container wouldn't fit in the car! I even use the space under the spare in the trunk for the spare oil and I've been known to take a pic so I know how to repack it at the end of a trip.wkohler wrote:The way I look at it is that if the container fits in the car, I might as well fill the container with everything I could possibly need.

It's floating around somewhere in the interwebs, but the one item I always emphasize is: OLD belts. How many times have you put on a new belt of the "correct" size and have it not fit? Now consider that frustration on top of being stranded. You know old belts fit, and if you're changing belts when you should, your old ones will have more than a few thousand miles of life left.Nebraska_e28 wrote:I think Shawn D. put together a handy little list a few years back too.

To keep it all in one place, especially for me.
How about the end of road trip supplies?
Stuff to clean your car.
