MT-90 is 75w-90. MTL is 70w-80. The descriptions printed on the bottles are identical. I live in a relatively warm location, so I'm inclined to buy MT-90 to put in my g265, yet the guy who seels this stuff says only VW owners buy it. Huh? Also, I've never heard anyone mention or recommend it on this board or any other ... it's always MTL. A call to the manufacturer did not shed any light on the subject. Opinions?

I use MTL because it fits within BMW's lubricant recommendation, in a Getrag 260/6 and a Getrag 265. I'll be putting it in a Getrag 260/5 fairly soon.

Others have experienced noise from their transmissions and mixed the two oils you're inquiring about in a 50/50 mixture.

I have always used MTL in the trany, I have used this for many years, even in a gear box with over 330,000, shifted great, no noise.
