My 528e is running, as far as I can tell, normally. Sometimes though, the "check" light starts flashing in between the turn signals. I plan on getting that 40$ book soon, but in the meantime, do you guys have any idea what it might mean?

Look at the "check" panel above the rear view mirror and see what is lit up. It could be one of a number of things. A light out, low oil level, low coolant level.

Hmmm, the guy who gave me that said that that panel didn't work, so I havn't been paying attention to it. It says brake lights, but I just fixed those... I'll check it out, make sure they are actually fixed.

If you used brass based bulbs you might still get the light. The check system is kind of finiky.

Silver based bulbs from the dealer and relatively cheap and work well.

When I bought my 535i the guy told me the same thing. Turns out the thing was just disconnected. I plugged it back in and come to find out, all sorts of lights are on! My check light is has to be reset every time I start the car, and then again when I turn on the lights. Everything works, but the damn light's are on for the hi beams, low beams, liscence plate light and brake light. what the hell?? So I can see why they disconnected it when they sold me the car. I'll be looking into the relays when the weather gets better up here.

Are you sure there's a "high beam" light on? ;)
