How to confirm TDC on m20 head? Found the mark,THANKS!

Read the relevant section in Bentley, I know how to assambled, but right now I just like to know the head by itself?

isn`t there a mark on the frt. of the Cyl. head & 1 on the cam pulley for the belt ?? There was a notch on my cam pulley & a 1/2" ? mark on the head itself Randy/Fla.

I haven't worked on an M20, but TDC is probably when #1 piston is up, therefore #1 valves should be closed and the cam lobes should be down. On an M10, this means the peg hole on the front of the cam shaft is straight down (6 o'clock), but you should be able to figure it out if it's different on the M20. HTH

Ya there is a notch in the Cam gear and a corresponding grove in the head at about the 1-2 o-clock position(if facing front of head). But basically both valves closed and cam lobes pointing down.
