Exactly what the title says, guys. I looked at it, removed the little leather flap under it...and I just cant see how to separate the, I dont know what its called, power supply? I see that there are 4 screws holding it in place, and tats not a problem, but how do you unlatch the power part from the actual ECU? It wasnt nearly this complicated on my E30. Just to make sure, am I right in disconnecting the battery before doing this?

Also, is there any way to determine the number of pins without actually opening this thing up? I've seen a few threads about it, but are there any full proof ways without actually having to take it apart? Thanks in advance.

Disconnect the battery, unbolt the ECU.

With it hanging free the cable connector come loose just like on your E30.

Press the "chrome" hold down and lift the connector up and away, lifting from the end of the connector that has the cable going into it.
