Finally, after some prodding, the seller came through and my 3.64 limited slip diff arrived today. Here's a few photos.
Cleaned up pretty nicely. filled with Redline 75/90, and according to some calculation I did a few years ago, this is the best ration for a 535is. :p

Good stuff, Pat! You're really gonna like that 3.64!! I hope you don't mind turning 4k + RPM on the highway, though, if you drive over 85 usually.
That reminds me that I reeeeeeeeally need to clean up my new-to-me 3.46 diff. It has gunk all over the rear cover and corrosion all over the actual pumpkin. I'm thinking of leaving the corrosion since it'll protect the diff but cleaning the rear cover since it's, uh, dirty.

What model donated the 3.64 ? Trying to decide between the 3.46 and 3.64 myself. I drive a two lane road - 40 miles - to work each day. Speeds about 65mph but this is Colorado. Altitude averages about 6000ft. Thus the need for a little more zip to make up for the hp drop at altitude. The 3.25 keeps the engine below optimal in 5th and 4th is just a little too busy.
The 3.64 came from a late 635CSi, and is just about the most rare ratio. I've been looking for at least 4 years for one.
For your use and ease of locating a diff, the 3.46 LS is optimal in my opinion, and fairly easy to locate. Many Mid-eighties e23's (7-series) had this diff and a surprising number of them had limited slips.
