pictures are resizing

Post by Shadow »

Hello.
Every picture on this site resizes to a very small one.
How do I stop it from doing this?

I notice the pictures will remain the original size until the page
fully loads. Is there a script I can stop?

No. This is done so the rest of us that hate big pictures won't go nuts every time we open a thread.

If you want to see the picture full size, just click on it. It'll open in a new window full size.

I love that. Whoever did that is a genius and it's one of the best features on this site.

Nope, no way to stop the script. It has been set in motion and will soon dominate the world! Muahahahaha!

*Pictures that size used in normal threads will be changed to links, please don't do that. Thanks, Jeremy*

Yeah, well I'm guessing he won't darken our door much longer with an attitude of trust like that. :rotz:

Which dumbass in that picture is him? :dunno:

That was a pretty ridiculously huge picture. You can use Microsoft Office Picture Manager to resize pics easily. That's what I do.

I looked into adding a user preference that can be configured to set max width (not too hard to do), but will probably wait until after switching the forum to phpBB 3. Someone has most likely made a mod package to add the feature if v3 doesn't already include it. I know many vBulletin forums have it as a user configurable setting, but haven't dived deep into phpBB 3 enough to check.

I typically multi-task with a large monitor and browse this forum with maybe one quarter of the screen. Big pictures piss me off when I have to scroll horizontally and also when they take forever to load with a 12-15mbit connection because most photo hosts are AWFULLY slow. So please resize and compress to keep things snappy.

If it bothers you that much, you can most likely use a code manipulating plug-in on Firefox to filter out the specific section of Javascript. There are HTML rewriting plugins meant to help stop spam, malware and such. Get something running and I can help point out what you need to block so the images won't resize.

I think enough people are happy with the feature that you don't really have to worry about it.

This is the first person I've seen that isn't happy.
