You know the car will still run without the in tank fuel pump functioning right? I am just curious because of the "ASAP" nature of your wanted post. Didn't know if you were sitting with a non running car and looking for the wrong part.

No sir i didnt, when i bought the car it wasnt running, our friend said that at the engine the fuel line was dry. I just figured it was the pump in the tank. He said when he turns the key that you cant hear the pump kick on. as you can see im not that frimilar with BMW. any sudgestions ? it gets spark, its fires with starter spray shot in the intake. but wont idle, just stalls out when the starter spray is gone. the car sat for two years but was started and ran last saturday without issue.

Put your ear down by the in-line fuel pump under the car. This is the primary pump which sends fuel to the engine.

The pump is located behind the rear wheel on the passenger side. Look at the front right corner of the gas tank and you should find the fuel line, it will run to the filter and then the pump. You should be able to hear it kick in when you (or a helper) turns the key on.

You can also jumper the fuel pump relay to keep it running to check the pump. This method can also rule out a faulty relay if you can kick the pump in with a jumper but not with the key and the relay in place.

The search function on this board will help you out a lot to troubleshoot, and of course Buy the Bentley service manual, it will save you lots of time and money.
