I vote for no new rules. Lots of things are annoying about these forums, but that's just life. I'd request that if you do have to bump your thread at least add something to the thread rather than just type 'bump' or 'I like to eat small children' or '^^^'. That's silly. Say something like 'make and offer' or 'I'll split shipping' or some other detail about the part for sale. Basically, just make an effort to sell your part rather than just bumping it to the top of the pile.
Personally, I can't stand FS threads where sellers post a one or two line description and no pics. Come on. Take a minute or two and snap a few pics or at least give a link to a better description and pics. There's plenty of negative reinforcement for this though when buyers eagerly throw money at these parts. Makes me wonder whether they ever get burned, or whether they have anything other than old car parts to throw their money at. Perhaps they just keep on mooching off Mom and Dad into their 30's and have nothing better to do.
This is not directed at anyone in particular so don't go getting butt-hurt, and if you do go tell your Mom about it.
Pictures are nice, but not necessary for everything. Most used parts, definitely, but if someone says, "I've got a pair of new Lemforder upper control arms," I don't need a picture. If someone says in their ad, "I've got a tested 059 ECU for sale," what good is a photo? I've got 6 or 7 bad ones that look just as good, if not better than the good ones I have. Plus, I don't see how it's negative reinforcement to purchase something you need from someone who has it. I post pictures, but that's me. Of the number of things I've purchased for substantial sums of money without seeing a photo, I don't think I've been dissatisfied. I don't expect perfection. Photographs aren't the solution to everything either. You can hide a lot in plain sight. Photographs can give you a false sense of security, so they shouldn't be relied upon solely to give an accurate representation of the item for sale.
Sure, it would be great to have people say things like, "There's a 99% chance this item will not give you AIDS" instead of "bump," but there are only so many things you can say about a rectal thermometer.
What do you want to do next? Require that everyone who responds to an ad posts to that effect? How would you even enforce that? Transparency like that is only seen in the Obama Administration.
I don't see the point in regulating the For Sale/Wanted subforums. Everyone has a different way of doing things and some are more successful than others.
I don't see the Beamters running out to make changes, and I don't think they should, but if they want to, I'm sure whatever they have in mind would contribute to the ease-of-use of MyE28.com.
I tend to agree with the OP but a ban is harsh. I do think it is really annoying with very frequent bumps. Unfortunately it is just an etiquette thing; some people get it and others don't have a fucking clue.
My pet peeve on this board lately are links to craigslist with zero explanation. People know full well that those links will expire leaving a thread missing any context to explain what the purpose was (like pics or the text of the ad).

I think it is important, if not critical, to see photos of the staff of Phyver Industries when the company is selling parts. It makes me feel good that I am supporting a great company that is committed to its people and the community . . . .
