thanks Josh !

Post by WERKD »

much appreciated Josh !
plan is to get some good pictures from V@V and post more...

Disclosure...i am not claiming that this car is "EPIC"...several others can claim that title...the term was used (loosely) during my search in an effort to bring out the best that was available, and then see if i could afford it...
The car has been a lot of fun from conception, to purchase, to build up , and of course for everyday use!
Thanks to all who have been helpful and interested in my quest.
Hope to see everyone at V@V !

Bumper fail. But still looks like a beauty with promise.

I was over at Steve's house this afternoon and got an up close and personal look at his car. To sum it up - Wow. I have to admit to being an old(er) fart who is partial to the more traditional lines complete with bumpers, but the work Steve put into this one to delete the bumpers is very highly detailed, and, I think, pulls it off very well. Trust me, it's not a run of the mill "My bumpers were crap so I just left them off" type of look. The paint cleaned up well and has just enough "patina" (read rock chips) to let you know that this is a car to be driven - not trailered in. Steve didn't even get upset when I drooled on it. Or maybe, he just didn't see that

The wheels look great - huge meat all around and fantastic finish. Rolled fenders done well with undercoating applied to keep out the gunk. Steve let me take over on our test drive through the neighborhood and I loved the Ireland Engineering suspension set up - firm, minimal roll, yet not jarring.

As Siskel and Ebert used to say, "I give it two thumbs up!"

I'm really on the edge - not discounting a lot of work & imagination - may have gone a little too far - just me but I hated "new Coke" when it came out, Classic Coke all the way. Old Alphas look good with no bumpers - E28's are another thing.

This car will create a LOT of controversy.

I can't wait till Mr. Kohler shows up................

Missed it at first - I guess he's now a man of very few words - almost speechless.

props to you !

most of you may know...i have been a member since @ mid 09...
searched a lot of the eye candy sections, and have not seen one like it.
love the "tight / cut" look on several models...ie the race prepped (vintage) e9's, 2002's, e30's, alfa's, even the 240z's, etc...
when i built my rigid chopper 10 years ago (before Jesse James and OCC made it big...) I finished it in FLAT BLACK primer...everyone always asked "when are you going to finish it ?"

I've got to say, it's a clean look. The only thing I would think about is some trim to match the belt line where the front valance meets the fenders - that part looks a little unfinished. Otherwise, it's a unique look!

Im not sure about the looks, it looks good in certain shots, and other shots...

What i want to know is, how does the car drive ? Noticeable change in handling ?

Do like where this is going.
Would like it more with a full shadowline, regular euro turn and fog lights, getting rid of the side moldings, and finishing the sides, front fenders/valance to match the rear.
