For Sale 87' 535is TCD S1 [b] SOLD [b/]

Post by GregATL »

87’ 535is Turbo TCD Stage 1 For Sale $4500. Lower price.

Regrettably it is time to let this car go to a new home. I find I no longer have the time I need to finish off the few things that need to be done to this car. As such it has been sitting for a year and a half. I can’t let it sit any longer. I will be as forthcoming about the good and bad on this car as possible.

This car has
• TCD Stage 1 turbo. Ceramic coated manifold and downpipe.
• 3” T304 stainless exhaust. Random Technology catalytic converter. Magnaflow muffler. V-band connections uses factory hangers. Has 2 O2 sensor bungs for running wideband.
• B35 engine installed in 2008. Has ARP head studs.
• E32 front brakes. Original rears
• Eibach springs Boge turbo gas shocks
• Staggered Hartge wheels. Very good condition Toyo T1R tires.
• Diamantschwartz exterior. Black interior.

This car is very solid. No accidents. It was originally an automatic but was converted to a 5 speed prior to my ownership. Transmission is a G265. As close to rust free as any e28 I am aware of. Originally came from San Diego via Louisiana (it was in Socal when NOLA flooded) There were a couple tiny spots around the corners of the trunk opening that is it. Oh and a small spot on the front edge of the hood. None of it is through the metal. Surface only.

The paint was redone prior to me owning the car and is not really great. It looks good from a distance but loses it’s glamour up close.

The interior is in very good shape minus the dash which has developed cracks . The seats are very good no tears(edit I was wrong see pictures below). Not perfect but certainly in very good condition for a car of this vintage. Power adjustments work as well.

All of the glass is good. The rear defrost is not working at this time. The power windows all work. Sunroof works.

Engine runs and drives but it seems to be pressurizing the cooling system. Head will need to come off. I intended to fix it but do not have time in the foreseeable future.

I believe the front wheel bearings are needing attention. Just before I stopped driving it, it seemed to be making a slight groaning from the front. Very slight but it was a new sound.

The rear differential is a 3.46 LS.

In addition I have many extra parts for this car. I have all the original parts taken off to install the TCD kit. Except for the downpipes and cat. Sold those.

I have a set of rear halfshafts and the rebuild/repack kits for them.

I bought new B pillar trim for the interior and installed the drivers side. Still have passengers side in package. Extra set of headrests.

The original B34 engine. Not assembled but all there. Cylinder 6 has a melted piston. Block is reusable for sure but would need machine work in the cylinders. Honing might be enough. Can be bored if needed.

Extra B35 head. Good for parts. Cam and rockers all still installed..

That’s all I can think of right now.

If you have any questions not covered here don’t hesitate to ask.

Greg.

As promised pictures from today.

More pictures. And a bump. Lets get some conversation going on this car. I have to move it and would prefer someone who actually understands what's here to have it. So ask me any questions you may have.

I can vouch for this car. I owned it before selling it to Greg, so right off the bat you know its the awesome. Its by far one of the most solid and rust-free E28s I have seen. I drove it from Sandy Eggo to New Orleans after purchasing it sight unseen in 2006 and it performed flawlessly. No accidents and nearly perfect body, just needs a repaint to be really nice. It really is a remarkable deal at the asking price, far less than what the parts that are bolted to it cost, not including the car itself nor the labor time involved. It would be great to see it go to someone who will appreciate it, as it would be a great basis for a really awesome driver!

I've got several pics of the car under my short ownership that I can email if anyone is interested.

Someone jump on this!

More info. Been driving it around a little making sure things are working since it's sat a while.

A/C works and blows cold. Had it recharged with R12 (yes the real R12) in 2007 when I swapped out the A/C lines during the turbo install.

Also forgot to mention it has the tropical radiator.

And I can deal on the price. I intended to sell everyting together (car and all parts). If you don't want the parts that go with it we can figure it out.

Again car runs and drives I am just not completely convinced the headgasket is sound and am selling it cheap for that reason.

Is the car driveable for a long distance without getting on it or would it need to be trailered?

Rich it seems like it could go for a long drive without exploding. Would I attempt it? Not before replacing the front wheel bearings. They make a little noise as mentioned above.

If you (or someone else) is truly interested I can trailer it all or part of the way. I would be willing to deliver it for the price of fuel one way. It would have to be someplace I can get to and back from on a weekend. Say leaving Friday evening. Probably would need to be within a 1000 mies from here tops.

To put the fuel cost in perspective with my truck, pulling this car and trailer one way, and the trailer back empty, you are looking at about $250 (half of $500) at 2000 miles round trip. Sorry if thats too much info just didn't want to leave a cliff hanger on costs.

I'm really ready to move it if you can't tell. :)

Greg,

Thanks for the information. Makes me wonder if anyone would want a TCD stage 1 kit at half the new kit cost since my interest would be to just have it as a B35 daily driver.
