I love upper middle class white people. Remember you are no longer the majority. You elected barak osama and he has almost successfully finished removing the middle class. Now all you are is a collective group of close minded douchbags with no respect for individualism. I may be from the "ghetto" but i possess a college degree none the less. I am a successful business owner despite the harder neighborhood i was raised in. Please forgive and grammatical or spelling and capitolization mistakes i am attempting this rant from my cell phone while waiting on a client at the airport.

I have no interest whatsoever in your countries, or your personal political standings, I've got nothing wrong with individuality and I couldn't care less where you came from. None of that is relevant here. I happen to appreciate more than others a step away from the norm when it comes to e28s in particular, but what you're doing is idiotic in our eyes. Don't expect to gain any interest or appreciation on this forum for your 'ideas' or 'plans' as although you may own an e28, that is where the similarities between you, and us ends.
Do what you want, but don't be surprised or get defensive trying to justify yourself regarding comments here, as in my opinion, you're getting off lightly.
Best of luck with whatever it is you're doing.

You can't possibly tell me that donk isn't a heavily "gangsta" influenced aesthetic. From that, you can easily make the logical leap that the car shown above might possibly be owned by an unsavory gangsta type, in much the same way that one can easily make the logical leap that someone who wears lots of black, spikes, and a sad face all the time probably listens to shoe gazer emo music and cuts themselves while writing bad poetry. It isn't really much of a stretch to group people together like that, and one doing so may be wrong, but if you wear the uniform or drive the car, you have to expect it and not get so bent out of shape about it. The car in the pic that Ken quoted is ungodly horrible and a tremendous waste of money on a fad. I feel the same way about mini trucks, giant wings on FWD cars, etc.cawb352 wrote:I was referring mostly to the asshat's comment above mine.
I don't mind what people do to their whips. . . What I do mind is that I know it costs a wheelbarrow full of cash to supply the labor, parts and rent on a shop space to pull off many of these modifications and more than likely the "technicians" performing the work are experimenting on OPP if ya know what I mean.
I think I'll leave it at that. . .

Yes some people who do this are experimmenting hacks. I however r&d shot and will not return a lifted vwhicle to its owner until i am satisfied with the quality. I have lifted over75 vehicles and of those 20 were over 12" of suspension lift. I have a reputation for the work i do and i take pride in it
Not to mention i am the part owner of a european repair shop.

That's kind of like painting really good pictures of Elvis on velvet ...cawb352 wrote:Yes some people who do this are experimmenting hacks. Im all for someone doing whatever they feel like to their cars regardless of what they want to do. The kind of people who spend the money to have you build donks and fly in to get them either have a high credit card limit or are in the middle to upper middle class tax bracket and beyond. Regardless of their color, money doesn't make up for bad taste and in this circle an E28 sittin on 20's is not tasteful to most. That being said I'm willing to bet the kids sitting in the green donk pictured above are probably getting blasted by three 6x9's and four 15's, I know this because I see it everyday.
It's not my car, so I don't care. Do what you like, but I will add this...
I laugh and point when I see cars with huge wheels. I expect to see a clown driving it. Instead, it's usually some dipshit "street thug" with a huge white tee shirt and baggy jeans. I suspect that these individuals have a natural instinct to wear huge clothing in an attempt to actually APPEAR larger (or more important) than they really are. I suspect this instinct crosses over to the only thing that they usually own. Perhaps putting those HUGE wheels on their cheap cars makes them feel the same thing. In nature, this is usually a survival or defensive tactic. Something to think about.

I apologize for being snappy. I realize, if only now, that most of the people on this forum are the type of people who do like minded modifications to their car. I started my E28 project with this intention but i don't feel that it is designed for what i wanted it to do. I have since decided to change my plans for it, and a place where I once thought to be welcomed in as a fellow enthusiast has looked at me and said "WTF is wrong with this guy?!?". Now as for the people making the smart ass remarks about what I do for a living, they caused me to be a little snappy. Its my business and my livelihood. It is how I support three children and a wife with cancer, I forget some times though that others don't always find what I do appealing. I realized this today when one of my older customers came in with his '67 250SL, and went "what is that piece of shit" when he saw a friends box Chevy on 28's. He took quite a bit of reassuring before he was willing to leave his car, because of the fact that a portion of my customers for the custom lift kits are involved in somewhat shady ways of making money. Those customers meet me at the satellite shop I have in the shadier part of town.
I do apologize for being an ass.
And for the record, the customer I picked up at the airport, is a professional sports player.
