?!?!!??? Over a weekend? Done right? I dunno but I would think it would be pretty involved to make sure you got all the cuts and welds right. If I were going to do it I'd make sure the car was darn near perfect when I was done though.dolomiti wrote:Actually, after closely looking at some pics, it looks like with some e28 and e34 Touring parts, this could probably be fabbed in an afternoon, or over a weekend if you don't have experience with plasma cutters and/or welders.
rant. Here's the problem I have with the E28 and E34 M5 tourings right now- they're rare. And I think that they look super cool. But the main benefit to one of these models, IMO, is that you can haul stuff. And they would be good for me with a youngin. But if I have an awesome car like an E28 touring or an E34 M5 touring its rare enough that I would want it to be a garage queen.
This is the same thought that I had when I saw the E23 touring last year on the web. I wanted it, but what the heck would have I done with it? I'd have dropped an M30B35, M90 or an S38 in there, restored the whole thing, and then I wouldn't want to haul anything in it. So it kinda defeats the purpose of having the extra space since its a rare car.
So for me having one because it has the extra space is pointless because I would just want it to be a garage queen and a weekend driver- I'd basically want it because its rare. But to convert one (or own one) to have as a utility car no longer makes sense IMO. /rant.
Now I'm getting the sense that you want to do it for the right reasons so I'm not trying to be a dick to you, I'm just trying to explain my POV on the rarer touring models.
