Thanks Sherman, I should've texted you the day I figured it was missing. I ordered one from BMW the next day in the morning and it got here yesterday. I was really trying to get an aluminum one, but it would've taken 2 wks and I did not want to but myself in that position. I plan on having the engine running today.

Yes!, I got to admire them before the engine went in and went into hiding haha.

For some reason I thought I had mines, which I probably did, but after all these years who knows if we ended up scrapping it thinking it was for another car. So know I need to hunt one down and hope I can get it by ends week...

If it's been setting empty for any length of time, it's not a good one now unless it's resealed.
That was my worry if I had found it. My plan was to get it tested before it actually went in.

Thanks. I try the best I can to keep taking the pics, but since I get so into it, I tend to forget as that would require me to stop what I'm doing.

So Saturday we worked for 12hrs straight. We got all the components on that was remaining, poured in the fluids and were getting ready for start up at around 8PM. Well we do our attempt and nothing, just cranks but no start. Check for fuel and spark and we have neither. So tired and disappointed we called it quits and went home. This is what it looked like when we left.

So today we brainstorm and well I never cleaned up the grounds of paint, so did that and also clean the relay contacts since they've been just there for 7yrs. So that is done and now we have fuel and spark! But we can't get it to start over. Well my brother looks over the ignition wires he had installed and they are on incorrect, but because I numbered them but could not remember if I had done so by the firing order or the order that I removed them. Well he figured that out and voila!! Its alive after 7 years!! Left it running for 30mins and all if well. Only issues so far is a dead Tach and the T-stat housing is seeping coolant from the joint. I can sleep with a smile! Enjot the vid!

Still dealing with personal matters so I get side tracked and its stressful. This is where I stand as of tonight sorry for keeping it short. Let's see how it goes..

This whole thing is inspiring, so don't let the self-imposed stress hurt your enthusiasm. It's just a date and you have personal life events that are huge, so take a deep breath and come back at it when your mind clears maybe?

Thanks!

Sorry for not posting any updates, but after the wedding I got busy with the home with having to furnish it and what not. We had gotten the home painted by someone but disliked the color, so for our honeymoon we painted the complete first floor in 3 days. So my D-day was Aug 27th. I had to be at Chruch at 1P.M. and I got home at 12:30 to clean it up the best I can! So I got done just in time. Still some nick nacks I have to address, but those will be done with time now. I'll post better pictures once I have them, now I'm posting the one I took at the gas station and one I got from someone that took one at the reception.

Congrats! I wasn't sure I'd like the Lapis with shadowline, but it's pretty slick! Well done. How much do those rear tires rub?

I'm digging everything but the wheels. It would look amazing with a properly fitting set.

Thanks! Well I adjusted the height with an empty tank and not accounting people in the back seat. Alone in the car its fine, but once we got in the back seat after the mass to the venue, the tire got murdered. So I have to redial the rear higher.

I also wanted to say thank you, because of your build thread and OcCoupe, I was able to pull this off. I work in the collision industry, but doing a restoration from the ground up is a total different beast. I studied you guys build to set up a plan before I started.

Thanks, I know the wheels are a different style and not everyones cup of tea. But I do have a set of the BBS RS211s that I will be restoring to keep the period correct look.

Been studying this thread for a while- so much good stuff in here.

Any finished product shots to show off? Also, I am looking to also do a spray in floor insulation, any feedback on how its been noise level and insulation wise?

Amazing work- Thanks for sharing

Thank you. Feel free to PM me if you ever have a question, or anyone for the matter. I do not really frequent the forums since work is kicking my arse.

Believe it or not, I have yet to do a proper shoot. I have it on my list to do but sadly never get to it. Let alone I hardly have driven it since where I live they are having major road construction and I rather keep her safe. But for sure soon I will get her out and snap photos of the finished product.

As to your question for the floor insulation. On the noise level, I personally have no problem with it. IMO it is pretty quite, especially being I do not even have the stereo system done and have had no urge to do so  . I can carry a convo in the car no problem. Heat insulation wise, I can feel some heat coming from the tunnel area, but nothing drastic. I once drove it 2 hrs towards the coast and would just feel the heat at times, not that it would heat up the cabin either. But to be completely honest, I never got to drive the M5 prior to the resto or another one for that matter so I cannot compare if it was an upgrade or downgrade. Now do I regret going that route? not at all.
