During last year driving My e28 S54 after going to three long trips with many twisties, I found that my suspension although is all beefed up but still in a soft side, so I decided to replace them with the BC racing coilovers, which I heard from many members here and other forums that is a great up grade and gives you a super handling.
looking forward to warm weather!!!

Unfortunately BC Racing is the only one who makes coilovers for e28 in complete package and also I’m always open to suggestion if you have anything in your mind that I may have missed.wkohler wrote:I'm surprised you wouldn't have gone with maybe a higher quality coilover. Hope they offer the supper handling you are after.
Hahahahahahahha, I have tried many set up in the past and this is what I understand from my past experience.jodystevens wrote:I am interested in supper handling. Sounds delicious.B7Turbo wrote:...is a great up grade and gives you a supper handling.
Normal cushion like handling = original factory set up
Firm but still soft = factory sport set up
Firm and responsive = after market shucks and springs
Firm, sharp and super handling = Coilovers

I am just curious; have you driven a car with BC coilovers? I have driven an e39 M5, MZ3 and an e36 M3 with the BC set up and I can say that it is a great set up, regardless of the origin. With all seriousness, you should try.wkohler wrote:Ground Control, GAZ, to name a few. Really all you need are the spring perches some good non-Chinese springs and a set of adjustable shocks.

Shit, for anything bigger than the current set-up you would have to consider the brakes on the Toronto commuter (GO Train).B7Turbo wrote:astupidname wrote:Sweet jesus. That thing is flawless. And those brakes are huge. I'm jealous.
Cool thanks, and I love them too, they have excellent stoping power when is required.

Hahahahah, very close Mark, These WP pro guys were awesome, since originally they didn’t have any big brakes system for e28, my friend and their chief engineer had to develop one for my e28 that would fit on the car like a glove, so as result they were able to add e28 big brake system in to their catalog.

Hi Friend,
I am happy to share my experience with new BC coilovers since I replaced the existing sport suspension from beginning of spring and after driving it through spring and summer and adjusting it to my liking and ultimately driving it at RTT 2014, I only can say wow, it is a night and day in comparison with normal sport suspension. I am so please that I wouldn't want to stop driving this damn thing!!! now I can say that I am happy with the whole car in terms of engine power, stopping power, handling and over all stance. I am done and happy with the result!

Just chiming in,
I drove the car on the BC racing setup and it was nice. Cant say I have driven one with a GC setup so I cant compare. It didn't seem too harsh but the roads I drove it on were ok (interstate) and I didn't really run mega twisty roads in the setup.

Re: E28 S54 Porn, heavy pics.
It was fun for that short stretch of twisty road,
even though I was no where near it's outer limits.
Thanks Sia for that opportunity.
And as usual, it was a blast chasing it, this time through the Ozarks.

One more for the ego... Gorgeous chariot sir, this is going to sound silly but my favorite part of the car is the 525i grill badge. I like little things that throw people off course. Its like when you see a really hot chick and she turns out to be a dude
Re: E28 S54 Porn, heavy pics.
Thanks Peter (KillerPm) for chiming in, good review!
Anytime Sherman (1st 5er), it was really nice seeing you having fun and thank you! see you at next RTT!
bkbimmer, thank you for your kind comment, No ego here, its all about fun, and thank you for your analogy, made me laugh!!!

I do love blue cars. This is one of the best looking E28s on the planet, me thinks.

Cool car.
Everyone has an ego. Those that say they don't just don't realize how big theirs is.

Can't thank you enough for your kind and warm comment, perhaps you should schedule your time that we could hang out a little at RTT 2015 so we can get to know each other first!pants|works wrote:Cool car.

Sia,
I'm glad you went to the dark side and got some coilovers. Driving your car pre-BC was an absolute blast, but I have a distinct memory of feeling like the rear was too bouncy. That is a purely subjective opinion. My "bouncy" is your "compliant". Yadayadayada.
Isn't it great to be able to play with all the settings?
(Hmmm, maybe I should try 10mm lower in the front... DONE!) etc.
Hope you are well, sorry I missed RTT this year, and I look forward to seeing you (and all the other. Canadians) again soon!

You are 100% right, one of the reason I replace the old suspension was because of the bouncyness of rear sprins which was to weak for the power. That is elaminated now and the car just rides absolutely perfect. It is great set up and I recommend it for anyone who wants a fine and solid ride but still maintaining the street ride quality.
And yes, we missed you this year and I can tell you that the roads around Eurika Spring was absolutely wonderful to drive. Hope we see you next year to catch up and do some nice driving!

Re: E28 S54 Porn, heavy pics.
this is what the perfect e28 is I think... Wow!
Re: E28 S54 Porn, heavy pics.
Since I'm new to E28 ownership but not BMW, I know good thing when I see it regardless of what anyone has to say. Sia, I don't know you, but in my opinion, this one car (although your collection is exceptional) is nothing short of being the top of the food chain for the E28! I'm surprised BMW hasn't reached out to you about this. It just goes to show whats possible with imagination, drive and of course, money. Well done, sir! I'm fortunate enough that I work in BMW service and have had the opportunity to drive some truly amazing cars but my heart lies with the old school BMW's which I think provide a much more visceral driving experience. I'm in the midst of my own E28 project but I had to say something about this one. One hell of a car!
Re: E28 S54 Porn, heavy pics.
this thread should be a sticky. what an epic car!

Where do you get those red white and blue hood and trunk emblems?! They're so sick and I want them so bad for my 528e.

Re: E28 S54 Porn, heavy pics.
Just found your thread and I love the car. Very OEM look in the engine bay which is awesome.
I had a question about your suspension set up. What top mounts are you using for the struts, F&R?
Thanks and thanks for sharing,
Eric

Re: E28 S54 Porn, heavy pics.
Eric, the whole package as you can see in picture page 8 came from BC coilovers as a package, which included front adjustable cambers and plates as well a solid plates for the back.ronin wrote:Just found your thread and I love the car. Very OEM look in the engine bay which is awesome.

Sia,
What did you do for the throttle pedal?
I've got almost every plan for my S54 build nailed, and this is one of the few last details I haven't been able to find good info on. Thanks in advance.

Hi Cek,
I just saw your post. I'm happy to hear that you were able to gather required parts and know how.
I have incorporated the fly by wire throttle pedal and sport function switch from the same e46 M3.
Good luck,
Sia

By the way, I think I have cruise control figured out.
Anything you would do differently if you were to do it again?

Of course, he would have driven the car to me at the end of the project and sold it to me for $5k.

LEDs? Not sure what you are referring to.
I don't think I would so anything differently other than what I have done. I am happy with the result.
