I haven't seen those gaskets in person but they look to be molded rubber. Is that correct?78e12 wrote:E12 Tail light housing gaskets should sell like hot cakes!

Re: SALE: TAIL LIGHT HOUSING GASKETS $45/PAIR (SHIPPED)
Not hard at all! The worst part was scraping off bits of the old gasket and of course cleaning up the headlight housing and the opening in the bodywork. I think I spent 30 minutes, and 10 of that was spent just standing in the sun and enjoying the day! I will post a pic later of my water-damaged trunk liner, and feel free to use that as a helpful advert.

Hi, it appears that they are molded which is quite different than ours and I don’t have the molds to make those readily available. You can’t buy them? If I could make them easily I certainly would!78e12 wrote:That would be great, please do. Thank you, Davejune82000 wrote:78e12 wrote:I think I have one in the garage somewhere. Public Service Announcement: When installing tail light seals/gaskets I recommend that you don't try to do it in super cold weather. The seals do tend to get harder in cold temeratures and since they do compress when you tighten down the tail light, the seal does need to give a little. I just don't want you to risk breaking anything.

Re: SALE: TAIL LIGHT HOUSING GASKETS $45/PAIR (SHIPPED)
I think I might need a set. Buying a car soon, and the trunk has minimal rust in the wheel well and the trunk is very moist but not soaking wet. How would I know if it needs tail light housing gaskets, or something else? Thanks
Re: SALE: TAIL LIGHT HOUSING GASKETS $45/PAIR (SHIPPED)
What I do is to see where corrosion is worst and work my way backwards or upwards. Possible culprits are tail light gaskets, trunk seal, rear window seal, antenna mast seal and I believe even the c-pillar seal has the ability to cause leaks. Dry the trunk out and close it all up, then spray water over all of those areas to see if you get any water intrusion - it should be pretty evident at that point. If the tail light seals are original then they’re 30 something years old so it wouldn’t be a bad idea to install new ones. Hope this held and good luck on your purchase.tuffode wrote:I think I might need a set. Re: SALE: TAIL LIGHT HOUSING GASKETS $45/PAIR (SHIPPED)
Are you doing both front and rear now or are you still just selling the rears?
Re: SALE: TAIL LIGHT HOUSING GASKETS $45/PAIR (SHIPPED)
I’m just doing the rears but to be honest didn’t even know there were any seals up front. I’ll have to check realoem.lenaxia wrote:Are you doing both front and rear now or are you still just selling the rears?
Re: SALE: TAIL LIGHT HOUSING GASKETS $45/PAIR (SHIPPED)
I'm guessing it was a typo? The front shouldn't have any gaskets for lights. At least in the US lights are sealed units with nothing to leak.
That being said, I haven't searched realoem yet.

Fresh gaskets in stock if anybody needs a pair. $45 shipped and you’ll have them in 2 or 3 days. PM me with your email address and I’ll send out a PAYPAL invoice. Thank you to the ones who have already purchased a pair.
