Sh*t man, you should have said something earlier and I would have met you guys for lunch.
Looks like you guys were at the Malibu Inn; hell I could have been there in 30 minutes.
Nice day up the coast. Enjoy.

Damned Straight. You guys comin' on my turf and don't pay yo respect? We'll see about that.
Seriously, I could have used a break from the heat at my house. The 'Boo is always like 10-15 degrees cooler than here.

I had to keep my rage in check while listening to the slip of a girl who won 3 day passes to Monterey this weekend.
I can't imagine someone who would give less of a shit about clasic cars.
Oh well, it would have been hell to find a room anyway...

Dang sorry Vince. We were behind schedule and stopping in the the Boo was a last minute strategic decision. BTW, good eye, it was the Malibu Inn.

After Ventura we were able to maintain 80+ for the most part until we hit Santa Maria/Pismo/SLO rush hour then we were down to 65. Both cars have had no problems so far (knock on wood) although the M5 used a 1/2 quart of oil. Outside temp was very high until Malibu and it mercifully marine layered in here in Morro Bay.

Just got off the phone with Jeff. He elected to continue driving north rather than sleep on the sofa at my non-air-conditioned shack tonight. So what if it's still 88 degrees in the shade...we got fans going!

Darin is on his way here now...the bar is open.

Drive safe boys. See you all Friday!

Jay, thanks for making the trek up from Pismo to have dinner with us. It's always great to put a face to an old board member you feel like you've known for ages. :D
Also, I passed on your kind offer of any assistance for anyone on the way up or down, thanks again.

John SCB, last I heard, Jeff made it to Pismo Beach and we're meeting for breaky tomorrow.

Well, it was either there or the Jack-In-The-Box. There wasn't a homeless guy in your photo, so Malibu Inn it had to be. (The parking lot across the street is the give-away landmark).

Safe travels guys.

Had an awesome seafood dinner with Charles and Mike last night. Good times guys and we shall do it again soon in your neck of the woods.

Safe travels and enjoy Monterey this weekend.

Made it to John's last night and out early this AM. Despite the large number of CHP I made it to Pismo to catch up with Jeff.

In a few we will all join up in Paso Robles.

So far so good...

My wife just spotted you guys in Pismo leaving the hotel. Her words, "those e28s were SIIIICCCKKK".

Drive safe!

If anyone needs anything I'm just off the 101 in Pismo Beach.

How cool to see four uba-clean E28 samples of perfection jammin' up the highway. You guys must have some pics to post by now...yes?

We’re here!

We met at the Bianchi Winery in Paso Robles and got the non-tourist guided tour. Some of us pretended to not know you’re supposed to spit the wine out after tasting.

Mike and I headed back to Hwy 1 for he run up the coast and Jeff and Darin did some more wine tasting and were a half an hour behind us.

We had lunch in Cambria and then had 90 miles of mostly twisty roads. The novelty wore off for Mike after we got stuck behind a line of slowpokes with no way to pass.

Image

Why isn’t the ocean this calm when I do this trip by boat?

Image

Image

Jeff pissed off some guy in a truck and was having everything but the kitchen sink thrown at him, Darin lost his AC and had one no-start episode at the winery and I lost half my gauges (my favorite half) about five miles from Pacific Grove otherwise we made it with no issues. 505 miles and 5/10ths from my garage to this garage.

Image

Carl Nelson and the Gang from La Jolla Independent are on the next street over from us so we invited ourselves over for dinner at their place last night and drank too much and stayed up passed our bedtime.

My bedroom window looks out over Carl's wife's car.

Image

This morning Darin went to have his AC checked and Mike went to a garage with a hoist to clean the underside of his car. Jeff and I went for breakfast.

We spent the day cleaning and detailing the cars.

All the cars cleaned and scrubbed tucked away for the night.

Tonight we’re returning the favor and having Carl Nelson and his gang over for drinks and dinner. I think it’s going to be a much earlier night for everyone though.

Mike is making Rack of Lamb :)

Love the removing the grilles to clean behind them, such a great touch. Even the headlight speed nuts look mint.

ah no -- Mike drives with the grilles removed. He trades dynamic looks for static.

So I spent most of the day fixing little things on the E9 getting it ready for Legends of the Audubon, but that turned out to be a waste of time because tomorrow's ride was just delivered to my house:

Image

Not my car but I will be driving it down tomorrow at 4 AM. Its for sale and I have it on good (drunken) authority that I will be walking home sans pink slip. It's an unmolested, all-original, lo-mile thing.

So I'm going to force down a bloody mary before I leave tomorrow morning. I hope you guys have a chaser ready when I get to your place at 6

Devinder is being a great friend and driving my car down... I have had it since 2000 (33k miles) and it now has about 73k miles.

I bought a high-mileage e28 M5 in 2004 to modify rather than change this low mileage M3.

Take a look and PM with any questions:

Beautiful. Wish I could afford something like that. I'd love it and feed it and give it water. I promise.
