Jack Cavanaugh Clean Car Contest, Spanish Landing 2013
Clean Category: Darin Stephenson, 1988 535is1st 5er wrote:Other than "a good cause", the winner is?
Masters Category: Mike Burger (left), 1988 535i
Jack Cavanaugh Award: Chris Macha (left) (forgive me I've forgotten which car was his, but it was much deserved)
I also didn't catch who won the Super Clean Category, but I think it was a newer car. The San Diego BMWCCA Chapter doesn't have the results online yet.

He has an e9, but this award was for contributions to the BMW community. I think they said something like his car was going to be a possible win in the super clean category, but they were expecting to give him this award, and you supposedly cant win both.vinceg101 wrote: Jack Cavanaugh Award: Chris Macha (left) (forgive me I've forgotten which car was his, but it was much deserved)
Personally, I think that this looks more like the Heinrich Himmler Perpetual Award, than a Jack Cavanaugh.

What happened here? I recognize everyone in this picture but you seem to be eating from plates and using utensils, there are bottles of water, everything is on a table, and you all seem to be sitting on chairs. What is going on here? Are you guys at a sober living facility? Are you being held against your will? is Lindsey Lohan there?
Congratulations Darin and Mike!
A big congratulations to Darin (MLastavo) for his well deserved 1st place win in the "Clean" category of the Jack Cavanaugh Clean Car Contest and wienie roast!!!
This year had a great turn out of some of the nicest e28's I've seen including Chris Kohler's Alpina B7.
This year Chris and Vince entered their first clean car competition, and though they probably weren't ecstatic with their results I think they came away from this with a new found passion for their cars. Both Chris and Vince have dedicated an immense amount of time bringing their cars to very high levels of excellence. It's tough to compete against current model cars when yours is approaching its 28th birthday. Both Chris and Vince put up some very strong competition and were just a few points away from placing. In a competition like this often the only difference between 1st and 3rd is 1.5 points.
I have a feeling that next year the competition will be which one of them gets first and second and if Darin will pull off a 1st place in Super Clean!!!
Great job guys!!!

Yeah, it was bit strange when I walked into the house from working outside to find a fully placed table complete with flatware and napkins of all things. Mike, Susan and Charles set a great table with well rounded meal that was delicious and just what we needed in order to fortify ourselves. Even Antony showed up with an awesome chocolate dessert. The wine selection wasn't bad either.Devinder wrote:

The whole weekend, while exhausting, was a lot of fun. The only drag was the traffic getting to and from San Diego.
Thanks to Mike for the words of encouragement, support and camaraderie. Also to Charles for hosting us and Darin for his constant entertainment.
It was a great weekend: lot's of friends, lot's of sun and cool breezes, and lot's of BMW's.
