I wonder why that discussion is not going a bit deeper in general.
Or why the world of Car enthusiasts doesn't complain yet, about the fact that there are at least 2 original BMW M5 E28 beaten up or maybe fully destroyed
for the making of the MI6 Film "Fallout"!
Both Cars which are visible in the video's and photos, are showing all those typical/specific elements of Euro M5 with the DC91 Chassis Code.
Further on, the Director Christopher McQuarrie confirmed that the Cars were original M5 E28 Models.
I'd say that all is a bit too disrespectful since those M5's are an outstanding rarity in the world of Classic Cars.
What is your opinion?
Regards,
N.
Oh, for Christ's sake.
Is getting upset about this, and perhaps yelling from rooftops about it, really going to do anything but get your blood pressure up? Just enjoy the movie (or hate it).

This one might be a real M5. I still doubt it, but map light mirror, etc.
This one has a standard mirror:
Also, the photo showing the car with the door open has no lock on the glovebox. Hard to say. No sign of there ever having a front spoiler installed either. Obviously the cars have been repainted.
But...this photo shows a black trunklid liner, indicating it's a later M5. Looking at the underside of the trunklid, it looks like it might have originally been silver.

No rear headrests, no light wiper/washer, no aero package = perhaps not M5? Rear headrests might have been removed for the shoot.
Both interior / exterior look pretty good.
Glovebox looks leather wrapped. M5?
I stand behind the leather-wrapped look of the glove box.
I'm not since I have no idea what you're talking about.
I really don't care what they did. I'm not going to watch the movie, they wrecked the cars. Most times a car is in the movie it's crap anyway. I don't have the time to worry about my own cars let alone what other people do with theirs. As long as they didn't steal my car to film the movie, whatever.
Yes he posted this after having left a comment (which he deleted later) in my account in regard of the Stuntcar M5's.
However in the Spyvideos is well visible how the right rear wheel and the axle / subframe breaks down when one of the M5's falls rearend ahead from the stairs.
So I'd call a car "crashed" once the subframe mount is destroyed and therefore the bodyshells geometry almost irreversible out of position.
I only hope that out there someone takes care of the Cars and restores them.
Do you really think the producers give one split-second of second thought to trashing a couple hundred thousand dollars worth of irreplaceable cars to make a movie where the lead actor alone will make 100 times that and the movie should gross 1000 times that and up.
Sadly... most of the world would be more concerned if they might have hit a cat and killed it. They make new ones of those every day but I'm sure some organization was overlooking the whole process to protect innocent animals. Movies are a reflection of our society where most of what should be common sense, decency, physics and so forth need not apply to their entertainment even if it is mandated so in the workplace.
I'm not mad at the movie makers but I will cringe if/when I watch it to see an e28 M ruined. Probably a good many of the moviegoers out there think they can make an app to fix those cars anyway.

Truth.
Unless the producer or director is a BMW buff the only part they care about is does it fit in the budget. If so, no problem. And he's right about the cat as much as I despise the miserable little creatures.

That's right what you say, unfortunately.
But on the other hand, it wasn't a real Ferrari that fell off and down the cliff from Ferris Buellers' home in 1986. And therefore I would have had expected the same amount of dignity in regard of our topic here.

I'm guessing dignity was the last thing on their mind when they decided to use a replica Ferrari.

Dignity. LOL.
E28s are great cars. E28 M5s are special. But dignity!?!?!
Dignity is a sign or token of respect.
Respect is earned. I predict this movie will cause an order of magnitude more people to be aware of E28s. It's up to those peeps to determine whether they respect them or not. Two less M5s on the planet won't make that any harder (or easier).
Couple of less M5 in the world doesn't affect me at all. I wasn't going to buy these Anyway. Still hurts to see classics being wrecked especially when they could have used some regular E28 in the movie.
Anyone who is going to watch the movie help to pay for these M5 wrecks and encourage this behaviour.

See, it doesn't hurt me to see these classics wrecked in lieu of of regulars. I really can't stand Tom Cruise...with one exception. He does almost all of his own stunts and driving. This is authentic. I'm hoping there's a plot line in the movie about these being E28 M5s, specifically. Then having them really, actually be M5s will be more authentic. I think that'll be cool.

That would be cool but I doubt it. Tommy boy more than likely goes running out of a restaurant being pursued by the bad guys and runs up to the first available car. Let's just hope the writers had a better explanation for him being able to get it started than hot wiring it or dragging some dude out of it and leaving the guy screaming in the road.
