A PPI would've doubled the price of the car. ;)

I can't wait to work on my E28 again. It's currently in the garage at my father's house with a space heater next to the block. Won't start either. Needs brake work too.

Before work I replaced the oil pressure switch that had begun to leak and cause the light to flicker at idle.

Bought a set of RS061s to eventually replace my M5 wheels. The RS's centers were painted white ( ) and I'll be bringing them back to their original gold along with polished lips and hex caps. I expect this will be a long-term project lasting a couple of months or more, but I still can't wait to see them on the car! I might keep the M5 wheels as "driver" wheels because they're not quite so desirable and can be easily replaced if stolen. Not so with the RS's! I might use them mostly for shows at least until I free up more garage space to keep the car inside full time.

While I was driving home last night the steering got real loose. I put Al on the lift to check out the problem and the aluminum bracket at the base of the steering column had separated. I removed it from the car. Rebuilt it and re-installed it. I guess it's good for another 31 years.

Got to stare at it while going past the shop. Hopefully will get it back on the road by Thursday pending one that the parts come in on Tuesday and two that it is in time when the new chain and guides go on it. Even though this is only the second time its had to go off the road for three weeks for a repair since august, it still sucks every time.

I moved it to the service area so I could throw this stuff at a transmission leak. Unfortunately, by the time I got it there, it was too hot for car work.

I installed a "new" old brake master cylinder. I hope it takes care of my right front brake locking up after a few miles of driving

Also installing these bad boys I acquired from a board member. Doing a bit of welding and patching up but we should be good to go soon

It was warm for a change today, so I washed it, removing most of a build up of grime (black algea slime) that the PO let grow while being parked under a tree. It started raining as I finished scrubbing the passenger doors. I laughed, saying "It never fails".

Removed the left rear window motor since it decided not to go back up today... After I removed it I realized I had sold all of the good ones I had, now I'm pulling this one apart to see if I can get it to work again.

Probably going to order all new ones next week.

Taillight gaskets on Gerda. Flipped the left one over and out came about a 1/2 pint of water. All sealed up now.

After clearing the driveway for the 3rd time in a week, I drove the super e to visit the Grandbabies. Slushy on the way , glazed on the way home. On decent all seasons, the old girl is no problem. The heater blower needs a refresh. Once the weather breaks. I'm satisfied with my right tie rod-ectomy, The steering wheel is centered and the handling isn't squirrelly or scuffing the skins I put on until I had the front end aligned. I think I managed to preserve the alignment by closely matching the length of the original, and transferring the dimension to best used tie rod assembly I had in my parts stash.

Ordered a new in-tank fuel pump to get her back on the road (and going over 40 mph).
Should arrive Friday. Hopefully I'll be cruising on the weekend...
