I'm honestly suppressed, you would think otherwise. It you had ever met Chris in person, you would know that he is way to picky (in a good way) to add anything that out of place on this Alpina project of his.

I WAS surprised Simon, hence the comment! I expect nothing short of perfection from his builds, and so far Chris has not disappointed. I simply hadn't expected that sort of speaker to be a factory inclusion, and I'm still surprised by it. No disrespect taken buddy

Chris, are you aware of these same speakers being offered as an option on other vehicle from the era?

there was no right or wrong on the grill badge placement....how it was mounted depended on how many beers the installer had at lunch that day.....
Mine came slanted but I hated it ...and went with Roy's method.

the Original Stereo and speakers were Pioneer in my 85 ...total junk...but original none the less....not sure that matters that much honestly today except for the nitto factor. I have not seen the lower rear seat cut outs like this Chris. I think this was done after the fact for a Subwoofer added later...

I really didn't do anything today, but here's the photos showing the progress from yesterday.

Front speakers mounted, front seats and sun visors installed. Also installed the license plate lights using the plastic anchors used on E30s rather than the metal speed nuts. The originals were rusty and I figured the plastic ones fit great, so good enough for me. They won't rust, either.

Seat upholstery is as I said previously, original. I am not sure what to do about floor mats just yet. Have a new set of BMW mats in antracite. Also have the original mats, but the driver's mat isn't that nice. My dead pedal is somewhere in southern California. The shifter knob will be changed to a new one once I remove the adhesive from the threaded insert so I can use the slip-on insert from this old knob.

Obviously, since the doors aren't put together, neither are the door panels. In fact, I need to recover the door panel inserts, but that's proved more difficult than I had hoped as far as finding a matching fabric. I've already spent more than that job should have cost.









I need to install the new tire pressure sticker, too.



Steering wheel original as well.

The wheels are in for refinishing as well. I will be doing the black centers myself. Did the measurements and found how to mask them for painting the centers so they look correct. Looking forward to that.

As a matter of fact, I had the same cut-outs in mine...

I did also have the same gasoline-additional warmer under the rear seat as Chris have, and I am sure it has something to do with ventilating this item...

Amazing dedication to getting it perfect. Could you share some photos or information on the auxiliary tank installation? I am acquiring a set of Alpina tanks (unfortunately no other parts) for my M5 and would like some information on the hose routing etc.? I have searched the site, but have not found close up shots of the transfer connection to the main or the vapour hose set up between the neck and the auxiliary. Thanks for any info you can share.

Yes.
I have so much to do and, unfortunately, do over again on the M535i after seeing this effort.
I can't wait to see it in person; the big question is whether or not it's coming to SD. If so, it will be an interesting study in contrast in before and after as I saw this for the first time last year at Darin's.

Maybe Chris will bring the car up to Portland this summer:). Would really be nice to see one built to this level!

I am happy that I am not too OCD about my E28 anymore. Too frustrating but someone has to do it. I wake up everyday and look forward to the moment I fire mine up.
