Re: Green Euro e28 in new Mission Impossible 6
It´s a bit strange, because their was never a smaragdgreen DC91, according the buildsheets of all of these 588 lovelies. BUT, their where about 37 with special paint in their buildsheet, which one of these could be smaragdgreen before the color was officialy offered.
The map light mirrors where an option from 9/84 or 9/85 forward. The last DC91 had them as a standard (9 or 10/86 forward). You could also order map light mirros with an standard euro e28. They even changed a really small detail on the e28 bodystructure when they introduced the map light mirrors.
The lighted sun visors where never an regular option for any e28. The early DC91 had non, only M5s build after 9/86 or 10/86 had them as a standard.
The black trunklid cover and the leather glovebox and doorcard let you assume the worst. But strangely non of the cars has the black chin spoiler, all of it a bit strange. Also the choice of color, because smaragdgreen was not often ordered.
Well anyway if they destroyed even only one M5 they proved to be a bunch of morrons.

It's not excellent at all. It's a bunch of bullshit that will attract more shitty worthless speculators.davintosh wrote:Excellent!!

I thought the release date is the 27th ... has anyone actually seen this flick yet?!?
Re: Green Euro e28 in new Mission Impossible 6
The theater near me says it's been playing all day. Not sure if that's incorrect or what. I will be watching tomorrow night. Representing e28s of course..

Really, the E28 community has always been close-knit (or insular, depending on who you ask) enough that all I really see this affecting is the average shitbox auto 528e on Craigslist owned by someone who isn't part of the community.wkohler wrote:It's not excellent at all. Just came back from watching the movie, overall it was great.
The E28 scene was very well done and was really fun to watch.

Well, I for one would like those two green M5s used in the movie delivered here and dropped off. Maybe some parts left to save. Like a drivetrain.

Re: Green Euro e28 in new Mission Impossible 6
I haven't been paying much attention so wanted to clarify...this thread about the e28 in the movie started months ago, but it's in the film that just came out this week - is that correct? I haven't seen any movies in the theatres in ages, but this one has been getting high praise from reviewers so maybe I'll check it out.
That particular shade of green is nice but I think I prefer Achatgrun, like Splondike's M535i.

Re: Green Euro e28 in new Mission Impossible 6
I went to see it since there was an E28. I didn't care for the movie. Vague story and a lot of goofing off.jhh925 wrote:I thought the release date is the 27th ... has anyone actually seen this flick yet?!?
Re: Green Euro e28 in new Mission Impossible 6
Meh. Not like it could get much worse than it already is. The movie is made, it's got an e28 in it, and some people will pay lots of money for a car they know little about so they can imagine they're Tom Cruise while driving it. It is what it is; no use getting pissed about it.wkohler wrote:It's not excellent at all. It's a bunch of bullshit that will attract more shitty worthless speculators.davintosh wrote:Excellent!!

And with a second look at what I posted on Tuesday, I obviously didn't do much to convey the sarcasm I was feeling at the time.
Re: Green Euro e28 in new Mission Impossible 6
Still doesn't look like sarcasm. All these people are shitting themselves thinking they have some super valuable car. I'm tired of speculators making everything expensive.
Re: Green Euro e28 in new Mission Impossible 6
Just bought ticket for 9:30 showing.
Re: Green Euro e28 in new Mission Impossible 6
Saw the film yesterday, film pretty good, e28 scene priceless , apparently we have "toy cars" .
They looked pretty much "stock" e28s, and I might be wrong (my hearing is horrible), but the engine noise heard on the youtube vids doesn't sound like a s38/m88 but an m20.

Just seen this video post a few days ago. The thumbnail of the green e28 caught my attention, they talk about the support BMW gave for the movie.

I saw the movie and thought it was pretty good. That e28 got banged up a bit but not to the extent of the e34 M5 in Ronin. The reverse whip around turn down the stairs was the worst of it.
The action was so fast I couldn’t quite tell if it had shadowline trim? The mirrors looked like black plastic and I thought M5’s had painted mirrors?

Re: Green Euro e28 in new Mission Impossible 6
We just got back from our last family Europe trip before we lose #1 to college. Made the obligatory swing through Munich, including the obligatory visit to BMW. (Off-topic bonus ... managed to get in on an English-language factory tour; we also did the BMW Group Classic tour, which sadly is very skippable; but those are longer stories).
Anyhow, BMW had plenty of tie-ins to this movie at BMW Welt, including a display of what they described as "the original BMW 528 E driven in the film." Here are some pics, including the spec sheet that they had on display, which almost certainly incorrectly describes the motor as a "6/4" meaning six cylinder, four valve.
Also, I would have posted a pic of the VIN, but I couldn't find it. This car didn't have the VIN tag riveted to the dash - is that a euro thing?
A couple interesting things: this car was only about 56,000 km & still had TRX tires mounted. This display also included a BMW T9 (?) motorcycle and a current M5, both also used in the film.

Re: Green Euro e28 in new Mission Impossible 6
I haven't seen the movie so there must have been another E28 somewhere since that's not the one from the chase.
Re: Green Euro e28 in new Mission Impossible 6
Something doesn't add up. Did they use genuine M5 in the movie and made it look a like 525e?

My head hurts.
Re: Green Euro e28 in new Mission Impossible 6
I'm sure they used a small stable of similar looking E28s for filming. I chuckled when I saw the sign saying that the car on display was "the" car used in the film. No doubt it was "one of the" cars.
I'm also kicking myself for not getting more & better pics, but the trunk badge on this car definitely said "525e" - I checked. I was also expecting an M5.
Regardless, it was a really, really nice example of the E28, which I'm sure is the reason they decided to put this one on display.

Re: Green Euro e28 in new Mission Impossible 6
I think the BMW is the new R nineT scrambler.
The car in your photos does not look green. Could just be the lighting.
I see the plaque in your photo shows capacity of 2693 ccm. Sounds like 2.7L to me. Would jive with others comments above.
Best line of the movie, as 5 of them piled into the E28; “who ordered the small car”?
