The first aid kit bracket was sent by tramp steamer from Germany to the East coast where it was transferred to pack mule and it arrived yesterday. At first I thought there was a prospector on my street, but no, it was my bracket being delivered.






Changed the power steering fluid and power steering filter. The filter is a clever design, it’s integral to the reservoir so you replace the whole thing. The e28 design is a dinosaur. Why replace a $4.00 filter when you can replace a $50.00 filter/reservoir combo?



The seat side trim pieces were beat to hell so I replaced them too.

Yes, there's a portable defibrillator in the kit and that cord keeps it charged.

I did the clay bar thing over the weekend and just started on polishing and waxing.

Got some new mats. The ones that came with the car weren’t horrible but they’re the ones that left the factory with the car 15 years ago.





The 1.2 Bar radiator cap came today along with the DISA valve upgrade.



Also, a 12v recessed cigarette lighter charging port for the trunk and a USB charger for the cockpit. I don’t know exactly where either is going yet.

I did the DISA valve upgrade and 1.2 BAR cap on the e46 also. There really wasn't anything broken, but that DISA valve kit helps give some peace of mind.

I thought the e30 had the dustiest brake pads in the free world but I was wrong, it’s the e39. I got these Abracadabra brand pads that are supposed to be low dust and still have decent stopping power.




Also put on the new door and bumper molding.

I have those on both my E28s and they work great. No dust.

The E39 looks nice. I like dusty pads because I love stopping.

I can't believe you'd park the nice cars outside and give the garage to some POS E39.

The rest of the stuff to do Chris Kohler's crazy M-Tech bumper idea are here. The quotes I'm getting to paint the primered bumper Stahlblau Metallic are making me cry like a little girl though.

I stopped by the shop that did the maintenance all of its post warranty life. He gave me a summary of what's been done the last 5-8 years but he didn't want to give me a copy without the PO's permission.

The sources of my oil leaks are the oil filter housing gasket and the valve cover gasket. I'll do them both next weekend along with the DISA upgrade. I'm also going to do new tensioners, idler pulley, and serpentine belts.

It wasn't a 100° today so I decided to go ahead and do the DISA upgrade from German Autosolutions. It's a very well made part with easy to follow (online) instructions. I'm pretty sure it had never been touched since it left the factory.

I have some hunting idle issues on my new-to-me E46. Thanks for the reminder about the DISA and I also grabbed the cooling system cap for my order.

How much time did the DISA upgrade take you? I read through the instructions and it looks straightforward, just a lot of steps and small parts to work with.

The idle on mine bounces too, and the DISA valve didn't fix it (the fix took me a couple of hours, including the time to take the valve off the intake, and I kinda dawdled.) I've heard from a few sources that the CCV/Oil Separator is the likely culprit for the idle issue, so that's next on my list.

I think there is a little more room to work in the e39 engine bay so it only took me about an hour. If I had to do it again, now that I know what I'm doing, I think it could be done 30 minutes or less no problem.

I hope I don't have to deal with that until I see what G.A.S. rolls out as their 'upgrade'.
