We had a great time. It was great to meet everyone and talk BMWs. My GF now realizes that I'm not the only one with a "car problem" (thanks Sherman!).

I ran out of the Texas flag overlays on Sunday before all the requests were filled. I'm out now

All that I did was have the "aha" moment. Chad did all of the heavy lifting around the production of the overlays. Here is the link to Chad Cutter's retail site.

Dude!!!! The wife and I had a blast. Meeting everyone was awesome, and the cars, oh the cars. That is what life is all about. Good friends, great cars, great times

We had such a badass drive to and fro. Highway 908 is one of the most fun roads I've ever been on. The only regret is that no one had an in car camera to catch all the action

We are looking forward to the next event, where ever and whatever it may be.

For those of you who left early, here's what you missed:
(Sorry if it's too long)
Sherman had a leaking coolant hose, and eventhough I am a BMW technician for a living, others jumped into save him (kudos ok, not talking trash, just think its bass ackwards reasoning. Funny enough, it only led to the following events)

While they fix the E12, I have this bright idea -here's that reasoning thing again- to go take pics on the bridge, THAT DAMN BRIDGE. You all heard that big chunk of metal everytime a car drove over it. THAT STUPID BRIDGE.

We take our pics, drive thru it, then just after the bridge turn our cars around and start heading back to "camp." I start driving over the bridge and I hear/feel a thud, followed by what sounds like open exhaust noises... huh, I wonder what that was?
That, my friends, was my cat-back being ripped off of my car!!!
Justin drove what now sounded like a mix between a Harley and a big block Chevy (that would be my car) back and I carried the incredibly hot exhust back. The we collectively turned into MacGyver and rigged up a floor jack made of the stage ramp, 2X4s, and some other thing, as well as some "new and not-so-improved" exhaust hangers -which by the way lasted al the way home- made of rope, hose clamps and Paul and Jim's rope skills.

(BTW, if anyone can tell me an easy way to add pics to a post, as was done above, I would appreciate it)

We should meet in route to our destination. It seems there are some really nice roads near the site. The speed limit on those roads are 70mph (seems a little fast). I wish I could've been following you guys at 100 mph. Seeing that whole group runnig together would have been great.

A swap meet would have been fun. We should post what items people have for sale, need or want to trade before the event.

I was involved with an Alfa Romeo club for years. We would tour the Texas Hill Country once a year. The roads out in Vanderpool, Leakey and Medina are some of the best in the state. Lets plan a drive out there.

Lets keep working on it so next time we meet it is even better.

I really dug the shadowlined cars. I think I am going to do that to mine.

Glad the Houston guys made it home with the band-aids on the cars.

Actually it was this time, but the tranny is still another story.

The ride up FM 908 was pretty awesome,
that was my third time to travel that road,
but 1st without wifey, so,
I could let my hair down a bit,
but following Layne back to Bryan/College Station got just a teeny bit faster, before the rain set in.

We definitely had a great time and it was nice to be around people who don't think I'm weird for loving this 24 year old sedan. I'll post my pics as well even though they look about the same as everyone else's. This definitely needs to become an annual event!

We talked about Matt's Roundel Design briefly.
Any chance you could influence your friend to produce this as an overlay, without the Matthew's Auto verbiage, of course?

Hey guys I had a great time meeting you all and enjoyed my first fiver event. I am building a 535 from a parts car that I have and hopefully I will take it to the next event and maybe the white cars will at least equal the reds. Anyhow, I just got notice that I need to move my doner car and Luis and I will be dismantling the whole thing and sending the rest to the crusher. I will try to post pics, but all is there from a grey 1987 535 i less the engine and tranny that I tranplanted in my 1984 533 i. It will be cheap or free so it never hurts to ask. I know that memo needs a valve cover that doesn't have marks on it. Lets make the best of it. You guys are the best and I hope that I can help.

No, I'm sure he doesn't.
I'd ask him a few years ago about copying it and he gave me the person's name who made the stickers for him, but I never contacted them.
Keep us posted...

Called Matt today;
He stated he has no legal connections to the "blue and white state outline", and said he thought the overlay using that design was a good idea.

And now... from Chad???

I've pitched the idea to him. waiting for a reply.

If they get done, I'd like sets for both body and wheel roundel placement.

If they get done, the first set goes to you

...and hopefully there'll be enough sets to go around, as I'll want several.
